@peterfraserbris Never heard of Optus until just now. I must live such a sheltered life. First some healthcare place named Kaiser something-or-other. Ten minutes later it's, "Optus" whatever-it-is I luckily never got involved with.

@ClareONeilMP Time and time again we see that self-regulation doesn’t work. The fact that Optus aren’t being transparent demonstrates their desire to minimise damage to their share price rather than to minimise damage to Australians. Make the C-Suite personally liable.

@mariewalsh18 I’m an Optus customer and all I’ve heard is crickets. I am a relatively new customer (two months) and I went straight down there after the long weekend and demanded that they show me that my account was safe and they did and it’s unaffected apparently.

@WideawakeBeets @Optus why not use amayasim? it's month to month and cheap. i never had any issues with that one and i've been here 3 years.

So why doesn't this @optus debacle underline the need for this sort of information to NOT be available or stored forever? Public/Private key encryption (which was largely illegal here until the mid 90s) has had the problem of identity verification solved for decades.

Got the Optus warning email. Disconnected my service(s) with them in April 2019 yet they still possess my ID details. Good job Optus!

@jojoeyjo9 @NiKKi_E13 I haven’t been an Optus customer for over 18 months and just got the email. Why are they storing my details when I’m no longer a customer ?

@crimsonartist A freeze on your report will help manage this risk, then take Optus up on their credit monitoring service offer when it comes out. State governments are now making it possible to have Drivers Licence reissued with a new number in most states.

@bentsolutionsau @jasonjordan Then is it unauthorised access to a network if it's printed across a bumper sticker (that doesn't require auth) for everyone to see, intentionally or not? I think we can all agree that Optus screwed up.
