@erfbeeass I spoke with @optus yesterday and despite not being a current customer (only 2 years) was told that they are required to retain records for 6 years. I knew of the meta data for 2 years but all else?

@VictorDominello Seriously? Get Optus to reimburse you like other states are doing...I got caught in the Service NSW Breach a couple of years ago too...

  • no_fkng_way no way (@no_fkng_way) reported

What would an Optus customer class action look like? Lawyers mining millions and those who got screwed getting a free month of optus.

@NeCWe @SenPaterson @SenatorWong You make a good point! Is Optus too big to fail?

  • MishStephenson Michelle Stephenson (@MishStephenson) reported

So I haven’t been with @optus for about 5 years yet I just received an email saying that as a former customer my data has been hacked. WTAF?!? Why do you still have my information on file? #OptusDataBreach

  • Biggy1883 Henry The Democratic Socialist (@Biggy1883) reported

One trusts that the Optus security breach of drivers licences & govt cards ; Medicare etc is paid for by Optus & not us taxpayers as State govt`s now issuing new licences & maybe Feds also have to issue new cards Banks will sue for new card costs #auspol

  • SecretChimp Merkin Muffley (@SecretChimp) reported

Certainly noticing that Optus network and mail server performance has gone down the toilet this week. Unresponsive to the max.

  • MishStephenson Michelle Stephenson (@MishStephenson) reported

@Smallzy @Optus I’m pretty sure in other countries once you leave a company your data is destroyed- why is this not happening here? What a fundamental **** up

  • Gergyl Gerg (@Gergyl) reported

Question: How does Optus know whose data was actually accessed? We guess from the server logs. The 'hacker' says they enumerated an Optus 'customer ID' to access the records, presumably via a separate URL for each, each of which the server would log.

@mcneilly_craig @cameronwilson My wife was a Virgin customer - never an Optus one - and they had her details from the takeover
