@angACT @Optus Bunnings just stores biometric data on you.. Who knows how well that is secured, but rest assured they are using the facial recognition data in a legal manner.. because Australian privacy laws are poor & bunnings can do what they like with the data

@trevorlong @margokingston1 @Optus I'm a current optus customer. Hadn't heard anything. Went on the online chat. Took 2 hours to respond and tell me my data wasn't exposed. Don't know if I believe them.

If @Optus won’t cooperate with the Australian Govt and AFP then shut them down and slam a few Board Members in Protective Custody till they do..! This is serious - they need to have that driven home to them. @AlboMP

@MynoteTa @InsidersABC But consider: A single item of authentication has some convenience, but that single point can be convenient too, to crooks. Govts at present issue driver ID, but that Id has to be shared to be useful, and then suddenly Optus???? Multi-level ID checks look more safe at present.

@newscomauHQ Both are responsible for what happened. A breach. Not a hack. No passwords were broken to get jn to the optus servers. It was an open invitation, which optus failed to secure. The government failed in providing a central ID check system for companies, so companies did their own.

The worst thing about the data breach at Optus isn’t what they got, it’s the boomers calling us worried that someone has all their info even though they’ve changed it all. My aunty just called worries about her passport. I said you can now change it for free
