@TomSear Okay, let's say there are valid national security reasons for validating who is using such a service. Once the validation check is complete, and Optus/Telsra/... got your name/details in your system, why do they need to keep copies of these documents?

@steleki255 @KatherineDeves_ @SkyNewsAust I've always been bemused by the insistence on gathering info such as birth dates. People can be "ID'd" over the phone by a series of general questions (eg fave song, first job etc etc). I'm an Optus customer & I'm mortified by the data breach.

  • AnthonyW_AU Anthony W (@AnthonyW_AU) reported

@TheCynicalHun If current customer demand Optus release you with no financial penalties. Leave them in numbers. We need a way we can have our previous information removed from companies like this. When is the next class action going to be taken out on Optus.

  • Sikamikanico Sikamikanico (@Sikamikanico) reported

What if you're a customer of an Optus wholesaler? My telco hasn't said anything.

  • King_Millez Miles Greenwark (@King_Millez) reported

This likely means requests were being made one after the other instead of one big go, meaning Optus only noticed after 2.8 million requests to a testing network were made Sounds real competent to me.

@Optus @RunnerSA18 This is the world we're in, but - i'm an former customer of Optus. Why do you even RETAIN (sensitive?) information of ex-customers?!!!

  • stevosplace01 Noneofyourfuckingbuisness (@stevosplace01) reported

@moatybuns @cameronwilson Are you staying as a customer? I know I have been breached, I'm changing to anyone but optus.

@cameronwilson Weird how hackers never seem to succeed in wiping all my mobile and broadband bills right @Optus #OptusDataBreach #FLOPTUS Keep your tears Kel, it's all bs.

  • songstargame I Stand With Ukraine -packadayolives (@songstargame) reported

Just got an #optus email, I had my identity docs hacked. Just keeping this as a reminder in case I need to sue them down the road
