  • TassieBooks Bookaholic (@TassieBooks) reported

@MoarToast @Optus I got an email yesterday saying "as a former customer". I have a current phone service with them...

  • AdrianMalec Adrian Malec (@AdrianMalec) reported

@davesag @Jeremy_Kirk They actually need to retain that data as per s187C of the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979, for the lifetime of the service and for 2 years following its termination. Where Optus failed was protecting that information from unauthorised access.

  • ReeDiamond2 Ree Diamond (@ReeDiamond2) reported

I hope our stupid government don't only look in to the 'security at the banks' for this optus thing .. what about ID theft ?

  • onejvo Jamieson Vincenti O'Reilly (@onejvo) reported

(cust_num) appears to be the Optus Customer Number, (account_num) appears to the Optus Account Number, and (sub_id) the Optus Subscription ID

  • AlexDGlengarry Alex McDonnel (@AlexDGlengarry) reported

@oldjoeschmo @nineislands There's dozens of service providers, they all use one of Telstra, Optus maybe Vodafone. Yes, Aldi does use Telstra, I use Aldi, rated best pre paid service provider in AU often.

  • deadtheorist Naomi Smith (@deadtheorist) reported

@SimonCopland @Optus They seem to be super slow with notifying everyone, I didn't find out until this morning. Maybe you've gotten super lucky though!

  • erinrileyau Erin Riley (@erinrileyau) reported

I thought we were safe from the Optus problem, but I forgot we had Optus broadband for one year when we were in Panania.

  • AnthonyW_AU Anthony W (@AnthonyW_AU) reported

@Me1011Just @Optus @RunnerSA18 She and the lot of board of directors should be fired. I’m sure Singtel will be doing a big WTF at Optus right now.

  • mvyrmnd Drambusters (@mvyrmnd) reported

@chipswoon @arielbogle Optus had to collect that data because the government forces them to. Should be like the UK where you can buy a functional SIM from a supermarket and not need 100 points of ID to have a phone service

  • fictillius Sagittarius (Sgr) A* (@fictillius) reported

The last time I was an Optus customer I didn’t have a drivers license 💅🏼
