Optus 4G has been rubbish all afternoon. Not completely broken, just bad. I presume it’s DNS somehow.

@7NewsBrisbane Why doesn’t 000 have an alternative number as a backup run by? Maybe Optus or Tpg or Vodafone? How does a company or a business run with just one solution? 000 is incompetent.

@MiddleMoney @aussiewongm @Anneeokeefe I'm pretty sure Metro went down during the Optus outages last year. But restoration time was quicker iirc.

@optus_help Hey Sam, I wasn't logged in and not even an Optus customer. Do you want me to DM the original enquiry so that it is easier to find the conversation?

I hope the telecommunications industry fines @Telstra for this outage the same way they did Optus!!!

@Starlink And while Optus and Vodafone service this area - proving how much Telstra really sucks - they both lose signal only several kilometers further out of the CBD, meaning that they also suck. These are the only three networks here. All other carriers buy access from these three.

@VoteLewko @LewSpears Not happening. The service will be delivered thru telstra and Optus not instead of.

@TweetTreet @tim_blee That's bullshit, devices EFTPOS and similar devices that run on 4G/5G can use other networks, and a bit of business continuity planning would have a backup network, even for a small business, like running down to Officeworks and buying an OPTUS prepaid SIM.

Back when Optus went down I was a Telstra customer. I moved over to amaysim which is Optus, and now the Big T has gone down. #winning
