Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Hartley and nearby locations:

  • bcurrall80 Blake Currall (@bcurrall80) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@gomikestevens @Optus As a current Optus customer, I am still yet to receive any correspondence from them about this colossal **** up

  • 50to39 Donna Longhurst (@50to39) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@SEggminder @Optus Hackers can duplicate any business header, info, even "security" so closely that it fools a lot of people. They set up their own sites complete with phone numbers. I got hacked that way. I avoid links completely these days. I never call the number sent in these txts or emails.

  • IaenCordell Iaen Cordell (@IaenCordell) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

At last I got an answer for my 3G issues, they have switched off 3G 2100MHZ 3G in Artarmon! Now if they just informed the clowns in customer circus, then again Optus have a more current example of not advising customers! <grin>

  • just_brash Justin Brash 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇦🇺🍸📷🐱 (@just_brash) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Optus CEO has said “this [#optushack] is due to bad actors”. You mean like Tom Cruise?

  • jazza1983 Jarrod McCloughan (@jazza1983) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Hi @Optus I am a former customer of yours. You may have an old email on file for me so you may have not reached me by email if one was sent. Will I be notified by mail if the email bounced back? Thanks

  • renee_glitch Renée (@renee_glitch) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Unusual spam WhatsApp message and unsolicited phone calls since #optusdatabreach count now at 2. Awesome 👍👍 I'm not even a customer anymore. Why did they keep my data? @Optus

  • DraganLazik D R A G A N (@DraganLazik) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@MadsMelbourne @Optus **** yeah you're right when you activate the sim, so stupid they don't need it either

  • wheelyweb Joe Ortenzi 🇨🇦 🇮🇹 🇦🇺 (@wheelyweb) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Hey @guardian : has anyone asked @optus if previous customer data has been deleted? I was once a customer maybe 8 years ago so no idea if they had my data.

  • richramo Richard Ramnac (@richramo) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

My conspiracy theory is that Optus paid the ransom, hence why the hacker deleted the data, the threat revoked, with the hacker's change of heart happening very quickly after the first 10,000 customer details were released. #optusfail

  • GT_AUS Graeme T (he/him)💉x 4😷 - 🌳🌲🌴🌵 (@GT_AUS) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@aparachick @anna_prole @JustJul77588855 Can't speak for Aussie but TPG own network. Anybody know, do the piggyback players simply use Optus infrastructure but maintain client data on their own system/s.🤔🤔

  • lyng62 Lyn (aka The Tractor 🚜) (@lyng62) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@HullKiwi I had considered doing something like that. But Optus have let us all down this week so I’m at the point of thinking they can get ******

  • chrisjackis Chris Jack (@chrisjackis) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

If laughable that @PeterDutton_MP suggests the #OptusDataBreach is a problem for the government. It’s an Optus issue about a breach in Optus customer data. Let Optus sort things out and investigate first. #auspol

  • lyng62 Lyn (aka The Tractor 🚜) (@lyng62) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@wallyscr Thanks Aaron. I had been considering getting a dongle or a SIM card or something with Optus just to keep the account (been with them nearly 30 years) but recent events have given me bad juju

  • JPMasters JPMasters (He/Him/They/Them) (@JPMasters) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@Jeremy_Kirk I think @Optus is in some deep trouble.

  • fictillius Sagittarius (Sgr) A* (@fictillius) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@InsideRetailau @Optus Nothing was broken into, it was left out in the open.

  • raptisj68 John Raptis (@raptisj68) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@trevorlong You're lucky Trevor, I've been a customer since the analogue days and still haven't received an email from @Optus notifying me of the breach.

  • just_brash Justin Brash 🏳️‍🌈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇦🇺🍸📷🐱 (@just_brash) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Optus has put out a statement addressing the government criticism of the company. As a customer I’m still waiting for any communication from the company at all. Hello @optus, when do you intend to contact customers? #optushack

  • 50to39 Donna Longhurst (@50to39) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

@SEggminder @Optus Probably the small cogs in the chain on the phone not getting all the info from the bosses. Doesn't help situation.

  • emzsuri 𝑬𝒎𝒎𝒂 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒎𝒃𝒊 (@emzsuri) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

Arrived in BNE and switched my sim to Optus and was welcomed with a message regarding cyberattack on Optus resulting in customer information being stolen. 😳 wow, no firewalls or any contingencies? Shutting down all my Aus Bank accounts 😑

  • pat_norman Pat Norman (@pat_norman) reported from Sydney, State of New South Wales

My partner got the email from Optus and my jaw hit the floor reading it. “Don’t worry the network is fine…but your drivers licence, date of birth, name, email, and phone number have all been compromised”. I can’t think of a *worse* possible breach.

Optus Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • CrazyCatChick5 Suzanne Olrich (@CrazyCatChick5) reported

Thanks @ServiceSAOnline for extending your opening hours for affected Optus customers but it doesn’t help much when @Optus only tell you you need a new licence after those extended hours near me are finished. Not happy jan…

  • noname_noidea `~` (@noname_noidea) reported

Loosening privacy laws to help deal with the fallout of a massive telco hack is very much on brand for Australian legislative "cyber security" If only Optus was mandated to retain more sensitive info, then it'd be much easier to work out who was hacked

  • mgdhermes r0_0t (@mgdhermes) reported

Police arrest teen for using leaked Optus data to extort victims The AFP (Australian Federal Police) have arrested a 19-year-old man in Sydney and charged him for allegedly using leaked Optus customer data for extortion. [...] via BleepingComputer (author: Bill Toulas).

  • GeorgeParthimos George Parthimos (@GeorgeParthimos) reported

So, 10.2 million Optus customers will now have their personal data shared with banks and governments without their consent. This is supposedly to help prevent fraud. So much for privacy and individual rights!!!

  • asia_mobility Business Mobility Asia (@asia_mobility) reported

I suspect @Optus has about the worst customer service when you want to cancel an account. Website takes you in circles and you end up on hold for who knows how long. What happened to this once great carrier. Telstra looks like getting my business after nearly 30 years

  • fuzzybluerain claire 🌧️ ⚧ (@fuzzybluerain) reported

@ExiledVictorian I've never been with Optus, but I used them to sign up for that "watch the Women's World Cup" thing. That was with my boymode email though so it's probably lost to the ages

  • backupbear 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 #BLM 🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦 (@backupbear) reported

Maybe #Optus should offer all data breach victims a free phone* of their choice as part of a compensation program. *Network unlocked of course.

  • technihilism alex䷰stopheles (@technihilism) reported

it also ******* sucks so hard that an idiot 19yo opportunistic scammer is going to face more legal repercussion for the breach than any of the responsible ***** at Optus we've found our scapegoat for corporate AND government malfeasance now, pack it all up everyone! #auspol

  • AllanSpence20 Allan Spence (@AllanSpence20) reported

@OAICgov OAIC blatantly suppressed hacking of private information. The massive blunder OAIC after flagging OPTUS, ZURICK. Hope the legal firms will use this wisely for class action and gross negligence BS never helped Australian Citizens just aided the hackers and still do TODAY

  • utegirl70 KJ (@utegirl70) reported

**** you, #Optus **** you very much 😡 Not even a customer anymore and now I’ve got to piss *** around and get a new license. #optusbreach
