@Optus my NBN has been showing a reduced service for almost 24 hours and is still listed as ‘under investigation’. Any chance someone will get the investigation done soon. With downloads of 3.14mbps and uploads at 0.44mbps I can’t do anything currently

The latest Optus ad deals with their cyber attack. Fair enough. My problem is they use the term 'learnings'. A word that doesn't exist in the English language. Lessons is the correct term, or 'what we have learnt'. If they can't get something that simple right, I wonder....

@evilscootus @BigKev67 I'm aware of the poor cricket attendances in Perth from the early 1990s. When Tendulkar reached his 100 at the WACA in 1991-92, there was a tiny crowd. Optus isn't easy to access through public transport? That's a shame, for such a wonderful facility.

@FinancialReview Optus & companies like Optus, are not above the Law in Australia & our laws are real. It is very clear & obvious that due to the serious nature of events, which have been confirmed as having compromised the identities of many customers, 'The Privacy Act' has in fact, been broken.

@lesstenny @RNBreakfast I wasn’t listening this morning, but my thoughts are, rain - our infrastructure never considered there would be rain, mobile coverage infrastructure not keeping up with demand (I am 13km from Sydney GPO on a high point - hopeless with both Telstra and Optus), and NBN no doubt.

@engagedpractx @Optus This is gobsmacking. Unbelievable that the Commonwealth would do this without consulting the actual person affected. Well, actually it's quite believable, but it sucks.

@Optus the living network. What a load of ****. More like the network on life support. It is not normal to receive bullshit texts saying great news we're improving the network when you send those texts every 2 weeks.

So wondering how many Optus customers are considering ditching the telco because of the data breach they incurred. Are you an existing Optus customer? Would you consider leaving them?

@RoyceRk2 Do you think this could be enough to sink Optus? What % of affected customers will cancel their accounts. Generally when someone leaves a telco it's due to a 'never again' reason.

I’m guessing whoever obtained all of the Optus data wanted to narrow down the list to customers who still had an active account before offering it for sale on the dark net and has already conducted a huge spam campaign

@lavosaurus Apparently it was just an open link on the internet that someone found and managed to scrape all customer data from api dot Optus dot com dot au (now removed). So it wasn't some state-sponsored group like Lazarus, it was probably some kid who poked around.

Thoughts on the Optus hack: - Optus is looking at some big costs soon - following CCT, Optus is unlikely to pass those costs onto its customers - Optus is a reseller, so expect Optus network providers to have prices passed on to them - there's a lifetime of ID theft fallout ahead
-

@petabytespb @Optus Optus is the victim? Ah no Optus customers are the victims and Optus is part of the problem - they failed to keep customers data safe

@Optus Seriously dodgy that you retain former customer personal data. Wake up call to improve your retention policies AND your security itself. Why make it even worse for yourself by exposing customers that aren’t even yours anymore?! Bring on a massive fine for your incompetence
