What is upsetting me about @optus is that they (and others) seem to think they can hang on to stuff used for a one off security/credit check. How many others have done the same. Why do they even hold that data? Why do they need to even know it?

@elipriaulx @lauroralei I'm seriously looking at changing numbers as well now because of this ****. Even if I don't. As soon as the time is right I'm going to move to another provider. Sick of Optus's ****.

As far as I can tell, after over 30 mins on the phone with @Optus, their strategy for supporting impacted customer is to tell them to wait for a call ("within 48 business hours"!) and just hope for the best until then... #OptusHack #OptusDataBreach

So the Optus data breach, hey. Bad news bears for a **** tonne of ppl. We have Optus internet but it was put on in mid noughts before ID docs needed, so if hubs is in the breach, the most they got is name, address, email & phone no. Still bad, but at least no license or passport

@AylaWolfMother @ianbfarquhar @Optus They're not protected from a class action if they are shown to have acted in bad faith regarding the implementation of proper security. The fact they were compromised automatically means they acted in bad faith as they effectively "allowed" a breach.
