  • dcash781 David Cash (@dcash781) reported

@CattyVonCat @Breezybaby1811 @noplaceforsheep Sorry, I just realised yours wasn't the 17 years story. I'm assuming you've been a customer of Optus within the past 2 or 3 years then? Like I said, my understanding is that older customers did not have ID documents stolen.

  • TaxpayersParty David Collett (@TaxpayersParty) reported

@cameronleech @FinancialReview So you’re saying Australian banks need to see passport numbers and Medicare numbers from Optus before they will process a direct debit for a customer.

  • tessconnery Tess Connery-Britten (@tessconnery) reported

So I tried to log in to my Optus account, but it wouldn’t let me. Went through “I forgot my email” prompts by putting in my number and was eventually told a code had been sent to an email I have never ever seen before in my life. This is not good, is it. #OptusHack

  • DodoAustralia Dodo (@DodoAustralia) reported

@MashMux Hey Mash, Dodo customers have NOT been impacted by the Optus cyberattack. Optus have recently experienced a cyberattack and are investigating the unauthorised access of data on their systems. While we use the Optus network as a network provider for our mobile phone services (1/2)

  • LukeSkystyler Luke Skystyler (@LukeSkystyler) reported

@SenPaterson @Birmo **** that! The government can pass the bill on to Optus. It was their **** up. Better yet, let Singapore pay for it. It was their penny-pinching when they took over that led to the talent drain/workforce giving a **** at Optus that led to the leak.

  • Gerweee Gerweee 🧲 (@Gerweee) reported

@therealrukshan 100% correct. Tried to get a new license today and can’t, need to wait to have my identity stolen or money stolen first. @Optus website is pure garbage and a merry go round of not offering support. Will def leave them asap.

  • jroper James Roper (@jroper) reported

@JesseVenables @troyhunt I was an Optus customer about 10 years ago, and I haven't received any communication from them. So, maybe they have their own internal retention period set to 7 years, which would be reasonable in my opinion given the law requires at least 5.

  • Flansq Bonshaquita’lafondria (@Flansq) reported from Brisbane, State of Queensland

@_marty_k I dumped Voda for poor 5G coverage and rollout. Optus is still much better in that regard.

  • cathalm8 Cax (@cathalm8) reported

@VictorDominello This is unacceptable. Why should we have to be at the whim of Optus and their reimbursement scheme. God knows people will fall through the cracks in their terrible systems! Make the replacement free asap.

  • dcash781 David Cash (@dcash781) reported

@CattyVonCat @Breezybaby1811 @noplaceforsheep My e-mail from Optus (this morning) specifically states in bold, "No ID document numbers or details have been affected." Whether I can trust that detail is another story! In your case, it's terrible to think that Optus has kept ID document details for 17 years! What for?!?
