Has the @optus network always been this terrible in Gunghalin?

@stuontheloo @HansOrph That sucks Stuart... I *was* with Optus a while ago - how far back do think the breach went?

@just_blooming @HansOrph Mine was unrelated to Optus, although I am a past customer of theirs (within recent years). Telecommunications companies tend to data warehouse old customer data after a couple of years, but I have no way of knowing what X is.

@sirgunner1886 @Optus They don't have to let each person know individually what was taken for them, but they should absolutely have said, "we have experienced a breach, further details to follow. Please monitor your accounts" or something like that. The silence is the worst part.

@sezzoooooooooo Over 9 million affected by it. It’s mental how big this is. The response by Optus has been abysmal - but with numbers like that I can understand that they’re overwhelmed by it all as they try to determine how bad it is. And yes I’m an Optus customer and yes I’m not happy!

@Optus massive data breach, no direct communication to customers, increased prices to customers, increased price of Optus Sport, no increased network capability to speak of - but you need “Team Australia” to help you in this crisis 🫠

@R_Chirgwin Yes, this. And why the hell is Optus holding all that identifying information anyway? Passport & Drivers licence numbers? Seriously? Aren't they only allowed to store what they need to provide a service? The more we hear the more it sounds like a data breach than a cyber-attack.

My own company sent us an email about the @Optus data breach and what to be aware of before I’ve even heard from Optus. The comms from Optus is piss poor. Even if I’m not affected, at least email us or something to let us know what has occurred.

Optus has a problem as do its users. Why not step back in time and just use a phone as a commutating tool, as was its founders intention?

@BernardSheppard @Optus I thought is was standard practice to have seperate databases for basic customer data vs escalated sensitive data with higher identity points (eg drivers license and passport). In the same way passowords/logins should not be managed/seen by basic service teams...
