@wyvernsrose @sassycarrie From my years with them, dropped a few years ago, I have zero confidence Optus has any idea at all the extent of the hack. Utterly incompetent at customer service, technical support, the lot.👎😡🤬

  • just_brash

Optus CEO has said “this [#optushack] is due to bad actors”. You mean like Tom Cruise?

  • msstraighty180

@HansOrph @Optus Had bad customer experience with them in 2009 thus they've been blacklisted by me since then

@hammocklyfe @Optus I’m a current customer. But might not be by the end of the day.

  • wheelyweb

Everyone is missing a critical item. Why do telcos need all that info when I can fire up an sms service without it. However. Optus is directly responsible for the data spill, regardless of if it was a hack or a breach. it’s their responsibility to manage security of that data.

  • GT_AUS
    Graeme T (he/him)💉x 4😷 - 🌳🌲🌴🌵 (@GT_AUS) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@CaraMia200 @strangerous10 Has any @Optus customer on here received any direct communication from them yet?

  • ben_hr

@engagedpractx @Optus This is gobsmacking. Unbelievable that the Commonwealth would do this without consulting the actual person affected. Well, actually it's quite believable, but it sucks.

@trevorlong You're lucky Trevor, I've been a customer since the analogue days and still haven't received an email from @Optus notifying me of the breach.

@Optus Hi Optus I have sent you a DM about my NBN not working. Could someone please look at this tomorrow and advise Thanks

  • IaenCordell
Iaen Cordell (@IaenCordell) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@send2mc @trevorlong Yes, I also am having Optus email issues. No point ringing up as the lines are already blocked up with people worried about the data breach, remember don’t shoot the messenger even if they are in a OS call centre.

  • vicrollison
Dr Queen Victoria 💧🐀 (@vicrollison) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@_annamurdoch @jessica_wilson Technically the plans are two parts - people agree to pay off a phone interest free over 12/24/36 months - which is separate to the phone plan part, that you can change up/down as you like, and Optus can also change with 30 days notice. Repayments don't change, just plan

  • vinnnylove

  • alderman1973

Offshore @Optus call centre's are the death of me at the moment. One hour and still no level of comprehension to resolve my problem with mobile charges. Horrific customer service.

  • leebailey11
Lee Bailey (@leebailey11) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@Optus my NBN has been showing a reduced service for almost 24 hours and is still listed as ‘under investigation’. Any chance someone will get the investigation done soon. With downloads of 3.14mbps and uploads at 0.44mbps I can’t do anything currently

  • adhdbusiness
Untypical Business @adhdbusiness@mstdn.jp (@adhdbusiness) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

Well done @optus. My current plan is $63 a month and gets me 160gb and unlimited international roaming plus 2gb data. The new plans are $59 for 100gb PLUS $5 a month for roaming with no data. I’ll either stay on my old plan or jump ship elsewhere because the value is bad.

  • Boatyboy1
Boatyboy (@Boatyboy1) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@sativa_bell If you are with Optus, Amaysim uses that network and much cheaper. At present 5g still rolling out so unless you need super fast, would not worry about it.

  • Boatyboy1
Boatyboy (@Boatyboy1) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@DoctorKarl On Foreshore and Botany Rd areas of Botany, my phone just doesn't want to connect to anyone. Can see many KM across the bay, but nothing works. Optus network.

  • TabLordKP

Is anyone else having issues with the Optus Sport stream this morning

  • Boatyboy1
Boatyboy (@Boatyboy1) reported from Sydney, New South Wales

@Eva_Lishus @Cindy1Miss @Optus Have a look at Amaysim. Uses Optus network, but much cheaper. Although it is 13x 28 day bills per year.

@Optus @optus_help 3rd day no NBN internet, so why do I pay $100 a month for no service? Superloop and Starlink looking very appealing right now. Maybe time for me to switch?

  • Trendy_Tim

@accent_trace @ktdenise I think I had a minor mental glitch I did the calc using 24 months out of habbit, so yeah it’s more like only 500 a year cheaper, still hard to find an actual benefit to Optus/Telstra’s over priced plans. 10 years ago, you’d get an iPhone and service for $40 a month.

It would now take full two days to send a message to Voyager 1 and receive a reply. Still better than Optus’ mobile network.

@TeamYouTube I have spent an hour on the link you provided but it is not helping. My third-party provider (Optus) shows active until May 2026, but my YouTube app is stuck showing an expired date from October 2025. All i want is Help to refresh my youtube account's sync with Optus.

  • aussiExau
    AussiEx.au (@aussiExau) reported

Phone bills are about to bite harder - Optus, Telstra and Vodafone have told customers mobile prices will rise soon, squeezing household budgets across Australia. First, the hikes are being driven by higher network and operating costs, inflation and ongoing 5G investment, and will hit both postpaid accounts and some prepaid users. Second, timing and scale differ by provider - some increases take effect within weeks and could outpace general inflation, so expect clear monthly impacts. Third, consumer protections are limited - check your contract, know your exit rights and review small-business plans. Act now: compare plans, contact your provider for options and escalate to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman or ACCC if you need help. #Telecoms #CostOfLiving #Australia

@SulloReport Moving it from Brisbane would kill it. There’s **** all around Optus stadium, Adelaide is boring, Sydney won’t turn up. The only option is Brisbane and Suncorp. Never been but can only imagine the buzz Caxton street has over the weekend.
