If there's one silver lining after the recent Optus and Medibank hacks here in AU, then it's the fact that orgs seem to finally be putting a focus onto their security from the top down. Today I had another great workshop with a new customer to assess their overall #cloudsecurity.

OMG OPTUS ACTUALLY LOOKED INTO MY PROBLEM AND ITS FIXED…FOR NOW THX GUYS ILY

Hi @Optus I’ve messaged you and did all the security things but no response on Twitter or the app. It’s garbage service

  • Dooley156Dooley Stephen Dooley (@Dooley156Dooley) reported

@rohan_connolly Optus next week will be as bad, $75 for a seat in the shade starting on a Wednesday in November...

  • tassiedad Jason 💛🤍💜🖤 (@tassiedad) reported

@Optus No, we use a dedicated account to put money for bills in. There is no card associated with this account. Even if there was, I wouldn’t be willing to give that information over, given your recent security issues. 1/-

@marksindoni Hi Mark - Optus iPhone orders are on backorder now. This is because there are global Apple supply issues. So sorry but we don't have an ETR on this yet. Aman

  • daveburke82 David Burke (@daveburke82) reported

@belindasmilne @StephenJonesMP No. Optus and Medibank proves that companies keeping and storing identity documents (along with bad security) is a bad idea. Totally different point and you’re confusing my suggestion for STRICTER identity laws with what companies have done in the past.

@BrandDNA @FootscraysFine1 @Optus I left optus 5 years ago but on my credit file they are still listed as a creditor. I have found it impossible to cancel my account with them. I may be a victim of the hack but because I'm not a current client, I have received no information. This is criminal.

  • DarrenODonovan Darren O'Donovan (@DarrenODonovan) reported

Podcasts are wall to wall with this Optus apology message: 1. I’m loving the “violin/piano concerto no.7: massive irretrievable data loss”. 2. But how does “learnings” survive any scripting process?! Very over institutions positioning their errors as teachable moments

  • DavidShoebridge David Shoebridge (@DavidShoebridge) reported

The Information Commissioner is already overworked and under-resourced, evidenced by the multi-year backlogs in their FOI work. The privacy regulator can’t afford to investigate any data breaches beyond the Optus hack. Great news for Medibank! Awful news for the rest of us.
