@toninicho I am now, seriously, thinking of changing my carrier after years of being with Optus Problem is Telstra cost me a first full money last time I was with them and I dropped Vodaphone over their poor customer service.

  • Granville4879

@LesStonehouse @Optus There is, I think I remember correctly, a period of up to 48 hours where a new service replicates across a WAN (wide area network).

@JacintaAllanMP We saw similar issues with Optus. There is supposed to be redundancy that allows emergency calls to be carried over any available mobile network. If our emergency communications and critical infrastructure are meant to be resilient, why do single network outages continue to have such widespread impacts? It’s time to review whether our redundancy is truly independent, or whether we’re relying on backup systems that share the same points of failure.

  • Anthonydsmith86

Optus stadium turf has been shockingly bad lately. Players slipping everywhere as that top layer is shifting too easily, reckon we’ll see an injury soon

  • Berts_Folly
    Rob Ryan (@Berts_Folly) reported

@CharlesSzulc Telstra will appear before a Senate inquiry into its outage, starting next Friday. Senator Henderson is involved in the (apparently ongoing) Optus one. It'll be be interesting if she now asks questions of Telstra, as will be forthcoming media reports.

  • FKhnopff
    Ferdie Khnopff (@FKhnopff) reported

@Democracy_Duck @ABCmediawatch Are you suggesting giving the network back to public ownership? To an organisation like NBN where rejects from Telstra & Optus go to work? (Including Telstra's so-called risk management 'experts' BTW) With ACMA keeping an eye on things?

  • Philssay
    Question (@Philssay) reported

Hey paul...Labor promised they'd get to the bottom of the optus outage.. Any idea why they walked away from the problem and allowed it to happen again.

  • daytona7th
    daytona (@daytona7th) reported

@tim_blee You would think that if you relied on the mobile network to receive payments then you would have a backup should the particular network fail. Maybe have an Optus or Vodafone SIM card handy or re-route your payment system to the NBN? No sympathy for unprepared businesses.

  • davo453
    Courty (@davo453) reported

@TheCl0wn85 @Telstra I felt like that when i moved from Optus for the same reason. As soon as the contract is up I'll switch back, basically no service ever in my area.

@amagickeagle999 Listen up ********. She's not expected to run it. She is expected as the responsible minister to oversee the regulatory framework and take the necessary legislative steps to protect consumers and ensure service standards are maintained. She promised tougher oversight after the two Optus outages last year and has done nothing, **** all. Over 600 triple 0 calls failed, lives at serious risk let alone the economic damage. Get it through your thick skull - She dropped the ball.

@Raymartin55 So the opposition communications or health minister shouldn’t check to see if vital infrastructure is working properly Do you remember the Optus outage! Give me a spell!

  • zzbrgood
    Bruce Goodwin (@zzbrgood) reported

@lodo25 @Ausbobsmit I’m usually in favour of government owned utilities but in my opinion the only privatised function that appears to work is communications. If there was only Telstra we’d be paying top dollar with no alternatives. I’m with Optus and my wife with Telstra so there wasn’t a problem.
