  • benschued Ben (@benschued) reported

Pretty poor from @VicRoads regarding the @Optus data leak and getting a new driver license number.

  • oc_gwen GwenOC (@oc_gwen) reported

@devilscandidate @Smizzy777 The questions are 1) why did Optus keep that ID information at all, once it was verified as correct and, more importantly, 2) why it was still kept for "former" customers. Disrespectful customer service, dodgy, in fact.

  • KoparaFallsKid 💧Robyn D💉x4 Insufficiently Feminine (@KoparaFallsKid) reported

@MsPraxis Expected. People seem to forget there is a whole army out there trying to penetrate systems. I feel for the IT team at Optus, they'll be devastated. We live in a world where constant vigilance is never enough, sadly.

  • tomtimes5 Thomas R 🚸 (@tomtimes5) reported

@JPMasters @Jeremy_Kirk @Optus Should be, but probably won't be. It'll all be hand waved away as "damn hackers, what ya gonna do" in the media while they get a slap on the wrist and that's only if there's any legislation covering this particular event

  • sargjune Sarg June (@sargjune) reported

Perhaps the govt should issue new passports to Optus victims to counter the cyber criminals .

  • funkeestarr Helen G (@funkeestarr) reported

@Optus @Writeobsessed That’s crap then why did I get an email as a mobile account holder saying my account was compromised ??

  • MillerDannielle Dannielle Miller, OAM (@MillerDannielle) reported

@BigunitGrant @Optus Almost 30 years of being an @Optus customer. I estimate they’ve made at least $100k from me to date. An email sent to me 3 days after the public announcement isn’t going to cut it. I’m now going to close my account and my daughter’s on principle.#OptusHack

  • byronkaye Byron Kaye (@byronkaye) reported

The Optus hacker apparently wants payment in cryptocurrency, which is great because it means the cops can narrow it down to four or five males aged 19-26.

  • RebelInventor Rebel Inventor (@RebelInventor) reported

@vshek @Jeremy_Kirk @VicRoads Wow that’s bad for those that are in Vic and have had their details compromised with Optus, they can’t do anything until someones allegedly already stolen their identity and committing fraud .

  • Narkov Nick Adams (@Narkov) reported

@BLShiv @Smushster @Jeremy_Kirk Rubbish. This is in no way deliberate. It's clearly a bug. Optus would not have wanted this and this is evidenced by the API being taken down.
