The greatest irony is seeing the outcome of the LNP's substandard NBN delivery in their poor videoconference connections to parliament. #auspol

Do you really have an NBN connection (I did not)? Even if you have one, try getting through their customer service and you'll know that an overly friendly guy with a thick accent is not working for NBN

Hi from Telstra. NBN Co are performing network updates in your area on 21 April 2023. Your internet service may be interrupted between 12:00AM - 6:00AM for up to 20mins….” - Kooyong electorate: 2 years to get nbn connected & nearly 3 years later still this rubbish continues

  • r3toric
r3toric (@r3toric) reported from Melbourne, Victoria

@NBN_Australia @southeastwater @BaysideCouncil Certainly is ! Usual speed of 108mbps down. We're going down to 30 and back up and down. Might be time to sort. Rain isn't stopping for anyone.

  • hutcho66
James Hutcheon (@hutcho66) reported from Melbourne, Victoria

@taipan168 And Telstra only faces minimum service guarantees in a very small component of the business where they continue to hold assets that used to be owned by the government. That's shrinking over time as the NBN buys out the copper.

@Aussie_BB why is it easier to change NBN provider than to change my payment details? I get times are hard, but this is getting stupid. Use your sales teams to back up your support teams.

Hey Sydney! Is your internet frustratingly slow during lockdown? You can thank the LNP for their ****** version of NBN #LNPdisgrace

  • AustraliaPM

@MRowlandMP @AnneWerriwa I call bullshit. If you were serious, you would make FTTP part of the national building code for new builds. Treat FTTP like a utility. Korea did this 20 years ago. Wake ******** up. Or continue to bumble along like a bunch of overpaid 3rd world sycophants. #auspol #nbn

  • llament

@Optus I am an Optus customer. The caller didn't claim to be from Optus. Since I recently received a couple of text messages from Optus regarding NBN maintenance in my area it seemed unlikely that they would be followed by a threat to terminate my connection

@robb_j_m Just signed for Starlink. $49/m for 4 months and $69/m after. **** the NBN

  • CarmelFay
    Carmel Fay (@CarmelFay) reported

@robb_j_m Starlink. A satellite connection through the NBN in our rural area was a bit of a nightmare. Starlink is reliable, no limits on usage, and we never get throttled. I'll never go back.

  • Mac80277103
    Retro MoJo 🇦🇺 🧡 (@Mac80277103) reported

@GreenTyler27 Yep, our respective Government's have stunning track records of gross incompetence in the planning and rollout of large infrastructure projects, resulting massive costs overruns paid for by the tax payer. Remember Labor's start the original NBN "fibre to the premises" rollout and its massive unplanned cost overruns? Then along comes the LNP's moronic attempt to cut costs by a change over to a crap "fibre to the node" hook-up and other "hybrid" connection types. We still deal with this high cost to maintain mish-mash today this very day. End result, we've been quietly paying for the dismantling and replacement of the LNP's substandard "FTTN" with "FTTP" as originally planed, and thus, billion's $$$ wasted.

  • LNPvoterfail

@derf17k LNP would have destroyed my Super given half a chance. As with NBN, NDIS, the car industry, refineries, environment.... Just **** right off @der17k

  • imboudee

@ItsMissShorty @osborne_sam @robb_j_m What you said is not controversial. We’re trying to understand what you mean by “wifi” being unnecessary. It’s ambiguous. I think you mean NBN Fixed Wireless. Or perhaps 4G/5G telco service. Or Starlink. Or even connecting to your neighbour’s wifi network. 🤷

    Natasha (@Natasha19317558) reported

@AlanBixter I’m not a hater but I can’t decide if I hate Medibank Private or Telstra / NBN more? Telstra / NBN sent 15 techies to fix our Internet problem & many phone calls all while our kids doing Uni exams & 1 wtg for cardiac surgery. Stress ++ Good luck Alan coz you’ll need it 🙏

  • RocKM16827690
    RocK_M (@RocKM16827690) reported

@grave0x @robb_j_m AFAIK There is no "free roll out" of FTTP. If you are on an FTTN network the homeowner has the "choice" to fork out money for the property to be upgraded to FTTP. If you are on the Coax/HFC network you are **** out of luck as the best NBN can do is try increase line bandwidth

  • austhrottle
    Aus throttle (@austhrottle) reported

I usually hate most government spending, but sometimes they get things right. The inland rail was a good project. Cancelling the inland rail is a terrible decision. It is just as important as the NBN, and in this case there isn’t a foreseeable technology that will replace it in 10 years time. Rail is insanely energy and labor efficient compared to trucks. Trucks should only be used for end of journey in a well optimised system.

  • WhatYouThinkIT1
    WhatYouThinkIThink 🇦🇺♥️🇺🇦 🔴🟡⚫️ 🇮🇱🇵🇸 (@WhatYouThinkIT1) reported

@loftwah The NBN was deliberately ****** by Abbott for 2 reasons: a) he was ratfucking Turnbull, and b) Murdoch didn't want his HFC coax stranded. Nuclear never has and never will be financially appropriate for Australia.

  • robb_j_m

To my Aussie friends: Wasn't the idea behind the NBN (National Broadband Network) to ensure that everyone had access to free (or at the very least inexpensive) internet? What happened? How much are you paying for internet access?
