Very few errors, and they were mainly names or technical terms. For example, "The R proof for off net MBN services" should be "The ARPU for off-net NBN services" "Mark Marie Derrmann" should be "Mart-Marie Derman" Seems plausible to easily transcribe everything with this.

My mum broke her femur on Wed, and my brother is a non board member of the NBN. These 2 pieces of info are important because today dad -annoyed the NBN is down at home- said to my brother, “it’s a good thing our healthcare system works better than our internet” and wow savage 💀

Help needed from the tech nerds please! If I change my NBN provider due to a better deal, do I need a new modem? Are they "locked" similar to mobile phones? First NBN company included a modem as part of the deal. Can I use it if I change providers? TIA. 🙏

@lesstenny @RNBreakfast I wasn’t listening this morning, but my thoughts are, rain - our infrastructure never considered there would be rain, mobile coverage infrastructure not keeping up with demand (I am 13km from Sydney GPO on a high point - hopeless with both Telstra and Optus), and NBN no doubt.

@TPG_Telecom NBN customer and quality of connection and number of dropouts has grown exponentially the past two weeks. Time without connection is now exceeding time connected.

@optus my mum's NBN FTTC white NBN box will not get any data thru the line. Have been trying all day to get thru to technical support and that line has been "closed" all day and message is hasn't been helpful. She also has a falls monitor which should be connected but it's not

@Optus my NBN has been showing a reduced service for almost 24 hours and is still listed as ‘under investigation’. Any chance someone will get the investigation done soon. With downloads of 3.14mbps and uploads at 0.44mbps I can’t do anything currently

A circuit breaker got tripped that killed everything but the lights and I’ve never been happier to have my critical network infrastructure running on the light circuit, no fighting with NBN handshaking for this guy at 11:30pm 😌

@Optus have “technical errors” if you are trying to get technical help with NBN. That’s what I was told when transferred to NBN tech help desk, after another ridiculous amount of phone time.

@Lachlan_Mc That's my issue. Signed up to NBN contract when it (finally) arrived in my area, but now 5G is available it's actually way faster than my broadband. 🙄 Not sure how or who offers a big enough data package to allow streaming on the 5G mobile network. 🤷

@troyhunt @home_assistant @Aussie_BB You'll probably need to turn on smart queues on your UDM Pro (I think I recall you have one of these). Otherwise the NBN policer will throw a fit on uploads and you'll get horrible upload results.

@BarryDa79113466 @markhumphries @DichieraDomenic If the property was previously connected to the NBN (or previously had a phone service) you don't pay the fee. It's only the lucky first person who pays. The old CAN (phone network) had the same fee for the first phone line to a house. Starlink is more expensive too
-
Satya N
(@Satya_PN21) reported
@markhumphries changed 3 homes, never paid. If the house was advertised as NBN Ready, you should have never paid a cent. They will warn to charge a fee if you miss the appointment. If it was wrongly advertised as NBN ready ,then you should take it to the fair trading.
-
Frosty Morgan
(@frosty_morgan) reported
@markhumphries Who is actually charging? NBN or a service provider like Telstra or Dodo etc. I live in regional NSW and use Mint Telecom, based in Hobart. Get immediate response on phone if have issues, & very quick to set you up.
-
David
(@dbmgreen) reported
@BeeMo16 @markhumphries @markhumphries Mark, just enforce your rights and ask for a phone service to be supplied. Obviously nowadays that requires an NBN connection. Once supplied, you can convert to DataConnection no fee.

-
Emo Dad

@markhumphries Was the rental listed as having NBN? If so they have to pay it. It’s a one off service cost and until it’s paid there’s no NBN connection. I have had this argument twice with 2 different real estates and won both times after explaining (politely) how the fee works

@markhumphries Have you tried negotiating with your provider? I haven't paid an installation fee with any upgrades I've had, due to longevity of being a customer. I've been at the same premises, but the upgrade to NBN fee was waived, as was equipment cost.
