NBN Issues Reports Near Fawkner, State of Victoria

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Fawkner and nearby locations:

  • stevescicluna Steve Scicluna (@stevescicluna) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@phbarratt You must have had terrible Optus cable. I get close to 100 Mbps. I’m in no hurry to switch to NBN delivered via Telstra’s cable.

  • PaulDuldig Paul Duldig (@PaulDuldig) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@NBN_Australia is an unbelievably bad service. We have fttp which should be +90MBps. The reality is far worse. Every minute we go from no service, to 10 to 90 and back again. Service provider doing their best. Six months this has been going on. Just terrible.

  • carldsmart Carl Smart (@carldsmart) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@natasha_yann @abc730 @MSMWatchdog2013 @geoff__thompson Netflix can stream quite comfortably on 5mbs - in fact my mother was streaming on 2mbs and seldom had issues. So blaming streaming services for the NBN rort is utter bullsh!t. The real blame sits with NBN and govt, both clearly out of their depth from the get-go.

  • ChristineEwing7 Dr Queen Christina (@ChristineEwing7) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

So, just been on the phone to @Telstra , about the crappy NBN service. Even though this household switched over 3 weeks ago, the service will be experiencing "difficulties" until July 19th.

  • DanSims Dan Sims (@DanSims) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@TheWineRules1 The ‘true’ NBN under Labour is what is needed but thanks to Turnbull (and mostly Murdoch) we were robbed. I mean copper as a solution. In 2018/19. Copper. Just insanity.

  • Swooptalk Rayce (@Swooptalk) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

This #nbn is just the worst crap on the planet, not matter which companies I have tried, the drop on speeds especially at late arvos is just discussing.

  • ChristineEwing7 Dr Queen Christina (@ChristineEwing7) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

This #NBN thingo doesn't work any better than ADSL. When it's pissing rain in Melbourne, it drops out just the same.

  • methylnick Nick Wong (@methylnick) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@gerald_goh @illumina @BaseSpace I do hope the #NBN can support the data transfer rates. 😜

  • steveacko stephen atkinson (@steveacko) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@iiNet seriously. It’s been a near 40 days since our iiNet NBN service was paid for and still nothing. Not even an email update. My partner and I work a combined 150hr week and can’t afford to donate more of our time towards this matter. #iinetNBN #NBN #Melbourne

  • eileen_1956 Eileen B Kenny (@eileen_1956) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@NBN_Australia ❌❌ Big crosses 4 u. No internet for 5 weeks; no solution for 5 weeks. A lot of blame & being thrown backwards & 4wards between Optus & you. Family dependent on me having a l/line as on emergency alarm. ❌❌

  • lesposen lesposen (@lesposen) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@playswithf1re @NickRossTech @R_Chirgwin @gordon_j To be sure. I need something for my awful 3G/4G cell tower issue where I am mostly getting SOS level signals… I’m right in the middle of an area where three towers don’t overlap. Have to use wifi calling. When the modem goes down every few days (Optus NBN) I go into a comms hole

  • eileen_1956 Eileen B Kenny (@eileen_1956) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@NBN_Australia @Optus Dear NBN & Optus - yet another Optus tech out this AM. Outcome: After nearly 2 months of problems - worst service of that whole period, 25 secs in, drop out, reconnect, 25 secs in, drop out ... the cycle continues 😡😡😡😡

  • mjfly1 Mark Flynn (@mjfly1) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@gnaight @NickRossTech @LJPatton @abcnews @netflix @abc730 But that's a business plan limit rather than technology one, that you can hit 60GB limit implies there's not a bandwidth congestion problem, only a few years ago our kids would kill their grandparents Sat, later fixed 3G plan in a weekend, it's not a problem on NBN fixed wireless

  • Swooptalk Rayce (@Swooptalk) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@scott_thewspot Couldn't believe that we needed another box for this crap #nbn Hopefully it works for you better.

  • lfsantosl lfsantosl (@lfsantosl) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@NBN_Australia @iTnews_au The fact that I pay for my nbn is already a streaming differentiation. All other online activity is or can be done on my mobile 4G network, whose speed is usually higher than nbn anyway.

  • PaulDanyluk Paul Danyluk (@PaulDanyluk) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@NBN_Australia It usually takes under an hour for a technician to come diagnose, fix and get my car started. And he doesn't leave me in a hole of he can't. NBN has a response time measured in days and routinely leaves the problem unsolved and without leaving any indication of next steps.

  • ChristineEwing7 Dr Queen Christina (@ChristineEwing7) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

    @unionsthug @wadekelly @NBN_Australia Perhaps. I don't expect a worse service than the one I had previously.

  • B_e_agle Beags (@B_e_agle) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

NBN woes part 2: given up all hope with iiNet after finding out that a) I had to use a different account that I didn't know existed, and b) organise an appointment for another technician to visit. Jumped over to Aussie Broadband and hoping that will fix this whole mess up

  • AntB77 Ant (@AntB77) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@guytaur @manjusrii @stufromoz Stephen Conroy's CVC pricing model is a big part of the problem with NBN. ALP don't get a free pass they're just as bad as the Libs

  • Lankaprince Jag Kulatunga (@Lankaprince) reported from Melbourne, State of Victoria

@SkyNewsAust @myGovau No one doing any work bcz #AUSvENG, well #melbourneweather also so f***ed up, so most quite #Australian trying to lodge #TaxReturn with worst NBN #Broadband, then we crashed #MyGOV also #HappyFriday Welcome to #Australia #auspol

NBN Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • docbaty Steve 'Doc' Baty (@docbaty) reported

[Laurie goes into some history, with the crux being that Rudd’s Communications minister, Stephen Conroy, was made aware of these shortcomings when designing the NBN, and so avoided the use of Telstra, Optus or the PayTV networks. It was a known problem from the start.]

  • PrintDiva2 PrintDiva (@PrintDiva2) reported

@Telstra Sorry not edit but wait until nbn finds another short term solution. In August nbn replaced all their lines outside our workplace but it is still poor service and now none

  • RayColl97052523 **** (@RayColl97052523) reported

Interesting reading in the FOI papers regarding the LNP's NBN rollout. Just another ****-up that we taxpayers have to pay for. Labor's fibre to the node would have been 5 billion cheaper & world-class. Morrison & the LNP ****-up everything they touch.

  • Richard59530421 Richard Goff (@Richard59530421) reported

@decryption @danilic $138au a month I am seriously thinking about it, as my max speed is 2.2 mbs and that's quite bad for any form of NBN. But Albo has announced that he will fix the LNP NBN failure so am holding off in he hope that the fool ScoMo gets kicked out.

  • nembitz Nembitz (@nembitz) reported

@Telstra My net has been laggy for over 6 years I've complained multiple times, NBN technician comes out it speeds up for a few weeks and goes slow again.

  • docbaty Steve 'Doc' Baty (@docbaty) reported

[I am connected via NBN at my home. I was recently informed that, due to the use of copper wire to connect my house to the NBN fibre network, we would never get faster than 100Mb/s speeds. Ever. (A 5G connection runs at 800Mb/s. Fibre would be even faster.)]

  • Aussietranstara Tara #SaveSense8 #doublevaxxed 20/9/21 (@Aussietranstara) reported

@DodoAustralia @NBN_Australia we have just had the NBN field tech inspect our line, Eric. Totally cool dude. I watched him in action and basically what I had predicted was the actual problem. A faulty cable join. Actually the terminating block in the pit on our street

  • rochelled270 rochelle ✨ (@rochelled270) reported

@kymtje Ahahaha. I do like how the ones who are apparently calling from the NBN tell me there’s a problem with the internet, we wouldn’t be speaking if there was the phone line runs through the nbn but sure

  • macropin Andrew Cutler (@macropin) reported

@NBN_Australia are enabling ROC and SOS VDSL features next year which may bork my connection. Also no word if @NETGEAR will actually support this with a firmware upgrade.

  • LNPvoterfail Never vote LNP... NEVER. (@LNPvoterfail) reported

@albo: "We need to fix the transmission network to handle renewables" Watch Morrison say they can do it through the existing network cheaper. Just like our ****** up NBN. #auspol
