They canned the digital hubs program, Medicare Locals, and dumped community providers of disability support services in favour of larger private operators cashing in.

I was paying $65 a month while neighbouring businesses were paying T $200 month. They could not use eftpos & phone at same time. I could do both + stream radio & TV

The problem is that some hearings are timed to avoid much journalistic scrutiny (NBN used to be on late at night, routinely) or there is so much happening at same time that some issues get neglected.

This govt willfully took this action and killed fibre to the premises which is excellent and causes no such issue.

If I can find a reputable @STARLINK installer in my regional area, I'd be thankful (Jervis Bay NSW). I'm past climbing on roofs these days. Any recommentations? My @telstra hot spotting is the pits.

Everything has massive 30 minute plus wait times and then it drops out. My NBN internet service was out of action every day last week. Please help.

Tas Tudor (@tastudor0173) reported@BrentHodgson What's more interest in is the land mines left by a government. The education reforms from RGR, NDIS RGR, NBN RGR just 3 that spring to mind. Abbott should have smashed them all up and we would be in a much better place now with cut down versions. That alone over 10 years must be $500bn.

Ive been paying $78 a month and it goes down for a few hrs just about every single day with the NBN

I am here for 30+ years and seen so many Americans who moved to Israel without any aid from any group (before NBN) who due to finances were forced to leave after learning the language, building businesses, having kids, etc. NBN wouldn't help any of them!

Problem is the councils are broadly right to refuse. Australia has 3 levels of government of which they are all disconnected. The feds hold the purse strings, the states build everything the councils regulate on a local level. We have migration today because the federal government doesn't have to eat the cost or suffer the consequences directly. Building up not out is in fact good urban planning. The problem is that is not only not what is going to happen. But structurally as it stands that is practically impossible. Since to make this actually work you would have to move away from car dependency into walkable cities PT and the rest of that. All of this is going to cost money and the federal government is being crushed alive by non means or capacity tested entitlement programs. Extremely expensive and inefficient road infrastructure a poorly executed nbn(thanks lnp). A deeply outdated and small railway network with mixed gauges. Along with a very very expensive electrical grid. Effectively the federal government is out of action in this regard. Because of what are deeply systemic failures allowed to compound upon each other. They can't spare the cash required to execute upon building up rather than out. State governments are forced to absorb these rent seeking migrants. Attempting to build housing on infrastructure they cannot afford upgrade designed around medium to low density housing. While councils being mostly directly connected to all of this are sometimes inclined to play the veto card as they should. This entire migration program can be made to work that is true but practically that is impossible. Thus it really should just be canceled as there are more critical systemic problems we face.

The $64 billion dollar investment is worth $269 billion 2. If you're using the "over 300 billion" figure ($337.2 billion) that figure means your "no future Fed Govt put one cent into it" bit is incorrect because this figure includes MULTIPLE additional multi-billion dollar funds added to the Future Fund's management portfolio. 3. The future fund wasn't built on some kind of free money windfall... The $64 billion invested came primarily from the Telstra sale. The Telstra sale meant the copper network was privatised, leading to Telstra putting shareholders first in refusing to bid on optic fibre rollouts. This meant the government has so far spent around $64 billion ($70bn by the end of the decade) to re-create Telstra's infrastructure under NBN Co. Meanwhile Telstra has paid $65-80bn in dividends since privatisation moved those dividends from public to private hands. So for every $1 we gained from the Telstra sale, we missed another $1 in dividends and spent another $1 in replacing the infrastructure we sold. Had a publicly-owned Telstra built the NBN out of dividends, and the government raised $64bn in debt to invest in a Future Fund, the books would look exactly the same as they do today. You've been dazzled by accounting tricks - following a magician's misdirection, and calling it "magic". 4. "negating the trillion plus debts... to some degree" is bullshit... It was created to cover DECADES worth of unpaid public service and military retirement benefits. Those debts amount to $322 billion, to be paid out of (currently) $269 billion in funds - leaving a $53 billion dollar black hole. Had the money been paid to super in a timely fashion (rather than the Future Fund being set up to cover unpaid pension debts), that $322 billion in benefits would be sitting in private super accounts right now. Again, you're dazzled by an accountant's magic tricks. Not free money - not "negating debts" - just a big government-owned super fund. "Can we all agree it was amazing when the magician sawed that woman in half! He should be a surgeon!"
