@Telstra I'm having issues with my NBN at Blacktown (2148). How long before the outage is fixed. Your outage page tells me there’s no outage.

@phil4change @R_Chirgwin @Pollytics If they ever do sell the #NBN we will create a massive “digital divide”. A non-government owner would cherry pick profitable areas and ignore the rest. People in the bush would be more buggered than they are now. We only had a universal telephone service because the PMG built it!

@Reggi05 @MichaelWestBiz @deepsquareleg99 Actually, looking at a business case for the NBN makes no sense at all. If they’d done a cost-benefit analysis the Sydney Harbour Bridge would have had two lanes. Or for a closer analogy, we would never have had the PMG run phone lines out to pretty much everyone in the country.

As an American sports fan @Foxtel has been unable to keep up with illegal streaming opportunities. The record industry was slow to act. Film and television learnt a little bit faster but fox has not. I wonder if the rumors of nbn interference is true 🤔

@BevanShields Sad in so many ways Bevan - sorry to say. I keep thinking of LNP policies & plans & then spin them out 10+ years - already much damage done ie #nbn & climate. Our poor children & what we’ll leave them. We need you to do your job now more than ever. #auspol

@Floatdownriver My elderly neighbor had a dreadful experience with being forced into having the NBN to keep her landline. Pretty useless when there is an outage and she has no access for 2 weeks. As a matter of safety she now has a mobile.

Scoop 😡 Yet another example where media failed to hold a bad Govt - with a policy against the public interest - to account. The impacts of Australia’s sub-standard internet are profound #auspol #nbn

Good discussion on @ABCthedrum @MingYLong about @NBN_Australia . Initial installation at my place in December 18, but signal no good, so they come back week after next. Not confident and costing more....

@richardbone Nah. Highlights current business model is flawed. Should have stuck with the original NBN plan. Only way we’ll see fair and equitable Internet access is provided by the government. If the basic telephone service had been left to the market many Australians would still be waiting!

Still an outage in Bondi . Apparently now it is an NBN problem . Not maintenance. Telstra make up your mind and please communicate with your call centre in the Phillipines. It is not fair to them . A more accurate outcome timevwould be helpful too....

@NewtonMark @acccgovau The public good is that Telstra stops misleading customers. Even if there is no improvement to the NBN connection available to any particular customer. Note that in the case in TFA, the competition for NBN was provided by the 4G network... possibly Telstra's.

@moylecroft Retailers have made Enforceable Undertakings to ACCC to test NBN services after connection and inform customers if their service can't reach the advertised speed. I suspect this stopped at some point. Buck-passing over copper faults/quality appears an issue currently.

Do any of my tech friends know why the NBN Cable broadband here often goes down (fails over to mobile) when it rains? Or, is it pure coincidence?
-
William

@NewtonMark @acccgovau You might be right that in a technical sense, it is NBN's fault and responsibility to fix, but I suspect that as a matter of consumer law, the problem is the ISPs making false claims to customers.
