  Our NBN is on the fritz so our ISP has thrown us back to 4G. My med prescriptions have somehow been ballsed up. The $160 monitor we had to get for our cat isn't working. It never ends. Why is it so hard? And I wonder, why can't anyone just do their jobs competently any more?

  @QuentinDempster Speed is latency. No satellite connection is "high speed" sick of the disinformation. Starlink is 20ms-40ms+ latency like mobile garbage is. NBN is a whopping 600ms latency. They need to keep this junk away from fibre areas where I get 2ms latency and have had since 2022.

  @NicFromOz They use Telstra wholesale network, coverage shouldn’t change from what you have now, 4G, no 5G, I have used them, changed to Superloop though, tied in with NBN plan for bundle discount.

  Tech illiterate idiots in this comment section is insane, if ur still getting low internet speeds with nbn installed ur likely not asking for the fttp upgrade which is free and ur paying the same per month sometimes even cheaper then ur avg fttn ect with deals, yes sometimes u cant get fttp installed but cases are slim and u only ever have to pay if ur 1. Getting business grade lines (which u wont need for the avg household) 2. If they have to actually install the lines which if u have pre existing lines then ur fine and wont need to pay which is the case for most, As for wifi its only really a user issue so many things can can contribute to a bad wifi connection Like Bad routers Damaged lines Interference (usually if u have ur router lined with a stud in the wall can contribute to this) but microwaves and emf interference can cause a bad wifi connection Some routers just need a simple setup properly rather then it being just default IF you’re internet provider says anything like ur ineligible immediately ask for a technician to come out and look as the internet provider company’s themselves don’t have the technology to see if you’re ineligible or not they might say they do but at best they only have surface level ****, my first 2/3 calls to the internet company’s themselves were “you’re ineligible” the 4th I asked for a technician to atleast have a look and he said and in quotes “this is piss easy to install what where they even telling you” they then relayed that to them and got this (photo attached) within the next couple of days with the fibre installed And I’ll add my circumstances which is why I think most will not have any issues • I live in ******** nowhere with a avg of 2/5k people with a outdated tower for the town • the house I’m currently in is roughly 80+ years old as far as I know it got built in 1945 (yes it did get re modernised but like surface level **** like up to date stove and redone walls and paint obviously) no rewiring Yes we got ****** by abbot so we had to deal with **** company’s like Telstra Optus selling a fttn scam for probably more than enough time but we have had fibre implementations for a while now so the wifi/internet connection excuse just isn’t there anymore maybe at the start but we are pretty close to having most of Australia on fttp or atleast attempting We are in no way as good as NZs and USAs fibre implementations but you should be getting perfectly fine wifi and speeds for the avg homes use no matter what you do and if u work from home and do any data transfer work.

  It's bad enough that I assume NBN co called my mother to offer an FTTP upgrade, which is not even possible because the address has an MDU which is not FTTP ready. Like I said, I don't think the people doing the work have any idea what they are doing. Disappointing.

  @OzHempRocks @MarkoMatvikov 1/3 The latent, already eligible scenario Well, welcome to the world of whacky PBO estimations, eh? Let me see – so PBO are not to be trusted to estimate NBN, NDIS, Snowy 2.0, nuclear (etc) – but we trust them here? I see.... Let’s look at their stats and I’ll explain them to you for your benefit. This is how you come to quote the ‘uptake’ figure. See embedded table. So here is the 26% quoted as being ‘eligible’, or what you call uptake. But here is where that gets problematic. 1. Your optimum scenario relies on someone having $0 income. They’re not even filing an ITR! The $0 scenario does not apply to PBO modelling, as they’re not in that cohort at C, which drives D & then E. 2. Of greater relevance - of that 26%, this cohort includes any permutation of incomes for couples, the overwhelming majority of whom: a. Are eligible but earning in the same tax brackets (eg $45K and $75K, or $80K and $130K, or $200K and $200K) and hence receive no benefit at all, or b. Are in different tax brackets but are both at the lower end of the income scale (eg one at $40K the other at $60K – moderates out to $50K apiece saving $500) c. Are in different tax brackets, earning good incomes, but where the disparity is insignificant (eg one at $75K, the other at $150K – a saving of $1200) Of the ‘eligible’ pool of 26% of tax filers or 16% of the population, most of them receive $0 benefit as they ARE eligible but are both in the same tax bracket (2a). A large proportion end up with ‘something, but not material’. Before anyone jumps down my throat, consider this – the ALP’s WATO policy due to commence 2027 is $250 per person, so either; - ON does intend to continue WATO, which just further piles the burden on the tax system or - ON rescinds this, and most people (90% of income tax filers) are actually worse off. See example 2b above. They’d be no better off. So, I presume ON will inherit the (dubious) WATO and add IS (income splitting) into the mix. We just end up with a ludicrously over-engineered tax system. Punchline - we end up with between 1-3% of the population who receive a material benefit. It is probably closer to 2.5% of the voting population. Many parents will think they are eligible but end up receiving nothing. Which is the essence of populist policy. Let me be honest – the ALP WATO is fairer, simpler, and better. So, you either inherit it and over-engineer the system or discard it and wear the ire of the population. Or take my advice and engineer a far better, fit for purpose, future proofed model.

  @AussieWirraway Lucky you, can't even get my mum onto FTTN because of terrible network management by NBN co. They transitioned the street, but didn't think to keep capacity on FTTN for residents in units who cant get anything else..
