  @THATS_RIGHT_YA @robb_j_m I doubt that’s a problem with the NBN infrastructure and perhaps more to do with your provider (TPG). I’m not sure what a 20 cm network cable has to do with much. At gigabit speeds I’d suggest a Cat7 network cable, to be sure to be sure. They’re fairly cheap nowadays.

  @robb_j_m abandoned nbn fixed wireless service, so many outages, so many years paying for speeds they could not deliver, local shop could not run eftpos over it, even on a business plan. i'm on starlink now, stable, fast and only $9 a month more than nbn for 4 times the speed.

  OK to explain the reason for missing my own Anniversary stream... basically there was a brief blackout here caused by a transformer blowing and it fried the NBN, so until a technician can come around on Tuesday I have no internet beyond my phone... I will try to make fir it somehow

  To my Aussie friends: Wasn't the idea behind the NBN (National Broadband Network) to ensure that everyone had inexpensive access to the internet? What happened? How much are you paying for internet access?

  @larrikinstreak @robb_j_m The ISP pays a significant portion of the price of a service to NBN. I don’t know where you pulled your **** from to think it was free, but perhaps go fling it somewhere else.

  @un1v3rs3135 @robb_j_m i'm on slightly more expensive starlink plan, rural village, get 240 mbps down and much faster uploads than fixed wireless nbn for just $9 a month more than i paid for the unstable NBN. has dropped out once for 7 mins in very heavy rain over the last 5 months.

  @robb_j_m $90 a month. NBN Wireless through Telstra. Good service. Few faults. 6 person house so many devices.

  @BrowntownBrew @robb_j_m In some cases. They would pay Telstra to use the pits, or Telstra itself would install fibre. This is an issue all over the world. We’re simply trading one monopoly (Telstra) for another (NBN). But there’s nothing to stop another company in theory from running their own fibre in dense areas - but not now of course, as they wouldn’t be allowed to undercut the NBN (hence the stupid NBN has actually made it so internet cannot be cheaper than how much they say it should be - law of unintended consequences - now the law is literally making cheap internet illegal).
