The person responsible for it all is JWH. Had Telstra not been sold in the first place, it would have continued to upgrade its network and we may not have needed an NBN on the scale the ALP envisaged.

Even it's rollout was ill considered, eg shutting down the interim satellite during the wet season 😳 Specifically what NBN requirements can't be met by starlink ? 🤔 Starlink has ~250k residential subs, 350k total. TassieDevyl (@TasDevyl) reported@ArtistAffame That's not bad. The only option I have where I am is Fixed Wireless. Essentially 4G/5G cell tower and fixed "antenna" on the roof. NBN service via iinet (TPG). Given the distance from the tower I only get a portion of the theoretical maximum throughput. Costs more than your plan.

Jonathan Wilson (@jfwfreo) reported@immyonboard @Telstra If you are talking about NBN, there are many choices of ISPs that are superior to Telstra. If you need mobile, anyone on the Vodafone network is probably the best (seems to be the most reliable of the 3 networks)

The concept was determined by an independent cost benefit analysis which determined upgrading to fibre provided the best benefit for the cost based on existing and concept tech. Libs destroyed the plan and the economics of the #nbn

My olds were hooked up 10yrs ago and while they used the existing Telstra conduit to the house, the inside install was terrible - left a big hole in the wall behind the NTU, which let spiders into the house until I found it years later and patched it up.
