@Henjam48 @JaneCaro @TonyAbbottMHR @NBN_Australia They’ve been set up to fail. Like most entities that are answerable to govt. The person responsible for it all is JWH. Had Telstra not been sold in the first place, it would have continued to upgrade its network and we may not have needed an NBN on the scale the ALP envisaged.

And 3 out of 4 premises are now capable of connecting to the NBN! Well that is at your own risk! It's just more bullshit from government and ISP companies to scam more money from anyone stupid enough to opt for this NBN CRAP!

  • KathyReid
Kathy Reid, Servant of House Corgi (@KathyReid) reported from Geelong, Victoria

Summary: we almost-delivered an obsolete network not fit for purpose and now we're struggling with finding a way to make it valuable as a private asset and service our debt, and raise capital to rebuild it post-2020 instead of it being made a public utility #NBN #NBN2

Good Q. Down here in Seachange given up on the NBN. Use Telstra 4G box. Not good enough. NBN imposed.

@skepticdropbear Yeah What a lot of ppl don't realise is that you still can get a home phone number with the NBN & you don't need to have a "plan" for it I've got home number/phone just don't use it for out going calls so no costs What's really bad though is that when the power dies it goes out

Third conversation this week with @telstra. We ordered an NBN connection. Two days later Telstra said there was a tech problem. An hour later, we were told there would be no problem. And then tonight, the order has been cancelled. Back on the chat again... Sigh.

  • RichardfromSyd1
Richard from Sydney 💉💉💉 (@RichardfromSyd1) reported

@NBN_Australia After a month of frustration, NBN have finally sent technicians come to cut the NBN connection over to the leadin they laid. With other problems it took 2 guys 4 hours onsite to make it work - but they persisted and got it working. Has been rock steady since then.

@Telstra Can somebody please explain why Telstra mobile services in parts of Croydon, Vic is so terrible. Maybe 1 bar 5G, maybe 1 bar 4G. So bad 4G backup on my Telstra Smartmodem does not even work. Waiting for nbn connection and I am out of options

  • MissLizzieZiZi
    𝔼𝕝𝕚𝕫𝕒𝕓𝕖𝕥𝕙 (@MissLizzieZiZi) reported

@NBN_Australia No I am not. It’s been out since 6am Sunday morning. It was meant to be restored by 7am today. @telstra have been useless with their help and cannot provide info on when it will be restored! Impossible to WFH when isolating from Covid. Now I lose a days pay! Unacceptable in OZ!!!

@anwyn Truth is, there's not a lot that ISPs can do for NBN *speed*, but there's a ton they can do for service. Having a call centre in Australia, working for the same company, goes a long way.

  • PhilCygnus
    Phil Gorman (@PhilCygnus) reported

@LesleeWalter2 Our landline has been cut off as we are on NBN fixed wireless, so we have to rely on Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) as our phone service. At least it's cheap.

  • charleyb2355
    Charleyb2355 (@charleyb2355) reported

@BetterStuffToDo @Monocotyledon What they charge for retail services is irrelevant but the fact is at the time they already had a massive fibre network, they had the resources to build any NBN. Indeed they would have done it cheaper than starting a new company.

    Arachaon (@Arachaon) reported

@emzy567505 Working in the telco industry I can only say that nbn will likely not be upgraded further, the current future it seems is the 5g network as bandwidth is much higher 100-500mbps, where as nbn for most people top's at 50mbps.

I guess I will go into my router and boot this LAPTOP-OJ22R16I off the network, maybe blacklist its MAC address for the time being TP-Link also sucks at UI design and iiNet also sucks for forcing this router on me (still need some questions answered about this place before NBN)
