I thought you are an essential service?! Also, the technician needs to check out the lines and wiring, etc. and they have no contact with a person. why can’t they work?

Trying to get telecom to fix anything used to be a pain in the butt. Look at NBN, over priced garbage. There's nothing wrong with a user pays system.
