  @HydecomLorraine @YaThinkN @Spreeman @mackaysuzie Agree totally. Education is not a privilege, it is an investment in our intellectual infrastructure & should be free. Get rid of all the IPA/Liars shit & we'll have plenty of $$$ to invest in health, education & infrastructure like a REAL NBN.

  @lynlinking @khtagh @GayCarBoys RC into IPA/Liars utter incompetence, both economically, NBN & everything else they touch called for. When I read the comments there were still cretins gibbering on about Labor's debt. Very disappointed nobody shot them down with current IPA/Liars debt & disaster.

  @Left_in_Limbo It's not. Just have to tell our vulnerable elders the ATO will NEVER ring them for any reason, nor will the NBN ring to tell them their landline will be cut off.

  Have had 3 phone call from NBN landline scammers in the last week. If anyone has got a relative with a landline, tell them to hang up & ring Telstra. They've been ringing from an 02 number, but it's bound to be generated elsewhere.

  @TopherField I have a conspiratorial hypothesis that may interest you regarding NBN The backbone of the Australian military communications at home was a rotting copper wire network and needed to be replaced, but pitching the Australian public on spending billions on military getting a communications upgrade was a hard sell So instead the two majors went at each other on two different versions of the same dumb idea, fiber to the premises vs fiber to the node Now we have ****** fiber optics speeds because it's being speed capped with software, and ironically NBN is the same old HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) technology that Foxtel had installed for years 🫠

  @Riogallica @nbn @Starlink The only problem with starlink is they can put the price up any time they feel, I was with them 2 months and they upped the price. If you want to go elsewhere in under 12 months you have to pay for the hardware, around $500 I think. Having said that, the service is ok.

  I'm thinking change of upstream provider has ****** up everything on the network, so decided I should kick my router as well to see if that makes a difference - I'd already kicked the NBN NTD this morning after it dropped out initially.

  @jarro56 @isaacfloyd13 There was bipartisan support for the NDIS & NBN because they were popular as their projected cost were fractions of what they actually became. The NBN could have been delivered by private sector for fraction of cost & is likely to be obsolete in future.

  i’d say that Starlink is pretty close to competing with NBN at home for $75 a month 100 MB per second that’s not too bad. We pay $110 a month for 500 MB per second at home. We usually get about 175. To answer your question a comparable plan in Malaysia is about 55 Aussie dollars so it doesn’t quite compare

  @TopherField I cancelled my NBN service after the council changed my address, and updating the NBN details proved too difficult. The address mismatch caused constant disconnections. I’ve since switched to wireless internet. Won't go back to NBN

  @ChrisEconomist 2/2 The true scale of the off-budget disaster will only be clear when someone aggregates the retained losses across all these investments, as companies do in their financial statements. I've never seen this done, but if the NBN is any guide, the total would be staggering.

  @TopherField Our sports club is 12.5km from Darwin's CBD and there is no NBN provisioning and the available wireless is dogshit. So yeah, Starlink it is and things have never been better.
