@NBN_Australia Let’s be clear - my provider @iinet knows nothing about what is going on. The fact that there was a service technician at my house was a complete surprise to them. And the technician disconnected me *before* letting me know. Glad I wasn’t doing anything important.

I’d also like to thank the @iiNet support staff out of whom I had to drag every last detail about how the @NBN_Australia fault investigation process would proceed.

This is the REAL reason Morrison keeps twaddling on about kids missing a year of school. Even today the DET connect online learning server is stalling and lagging constantly. Fix the nbn and shut the schools.

@JakeGinnivan @NBN_Australia Vodafone NBN is quite good - it has 4G backup that comes on automatically (so then it's their problem and not really yours). Costs the same as other NBN packages.

@J_MC_R @7NewsPerth @ScottMorrisonMP Start with the areas with the worst service would be beneficial. I agree that this should all have been done already. NBN aside this government have had 4 months warning to strategise and prepare yet have done absolutely nothing but rorts and holidays.

@theresamanahan1 @PaulFletcherMP @NBN_Australia I recommend a replacement of all of the old copper & junk the HFC while they're at it. NBN has already rolled fibre to the nodes. (Green cabinets) The only section of the network left to do is the 'last mile' out to the premises. TI

@EVTimOZ Perhaps yours is not the best analogy. I have a sub rate FTTN @NBN_Australia service and I don't get a discount for having 480 vids instead of 4K. On the other hand, I'd happily accept financial compensation for changing my energy usage patterns a.k.a demand response.

@Ian__P @ellaNbuckland @Centrelink I don't think people ever forget being poor and having to go to a place like Centrelink. Also, their website crashed yesterday with only an extra 90,000 people trying to log on. Our NBN isn't fit for pandemic purpose.

Are you a @Telstra @NBN_Australia customer. We've been having connectivity issues overnight. It seems that the Telstra / Big Pond DNS has crashed. I've just modded my Wife's phone & @Foxtel STU to use the @Google DNS 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 = Hey Presto problem solved. TI

@NBN_Australia I've tried most troubleshooting steps in vain. This is not just a speed fluctuation issue. Something is wrong with our connection. Worse even, I can't reach the Belong guys for support. Quite frustrating when my everyday work and meetings depend on good internet connection.

@joshgnosis For example, the article today about the NBN costing three times more than they planned and it costing the same as a full fibre rollout Realistically this is horrible and a complete waste If it were Labor, headline news until election Let's see how long it lasts for the Libs
-
no way
(@no_fkng_way) reported
NBN cost as much as the cost of a full-fibre plan. COALition’s cut-down version cost three times more than forecast and closer to the estimated cost of a version of Labor’s full-fibre plan, according to figures the gov has sought to keep secret for almost a decade. ~more lies~

@GordyPls @dobes and @rycrozier are still doing quite a lot of NBN coverage. Much more than I do. And Rob Harris did a bit in Nine earlier this year. I just think outside of the tech industry it's become a non-story except when it doesn't work, which is not totally infrequent.

@DallenDonna Possibly. Sadly #insiders has become a weekly examination of froth and bubble. I'd like to see serious attention to the complex big important stuff: COAG/Federation, NEM, gig economy, NBN, that kind of thing. With policy experts to call out the crap. Don't think that's #insiders.

Josh Taylor
(@joshgnosis) reported
They also vastly overestimated the cost of fibre-to-the-premises. Including putting high interest rates that nbn never paid. The HFC, which Turnbull always pitched as the easiest upgrade, has been one of the most difficult. It went from between $800 - $850 per premises to $2752
