Nowadays internet isn't a luxury, it's livelihood and companies need to step up their game to match.

The reason you still hear about it these days having issues is because of LNP screwing it up with a mixed technology approach. FTTP does not have these drawbacks.

To ensure the application is from a real resident at the property, NBN sometimes needs proof, like a lease contract or water bills that match the applicant's name and address. However, this process can really delay provisioning. ISPs can check if the LOC ID is empty and see that no service is connected; they could just sign the customer up. If there is an existing service and the name on file doesn’t match, send a message to the new customer that provisioning is stuck for xxx reason. If the name on file matches, they can just hook them up. The process could be so much easier!
