particularly sad that @WhatsApp goes down with #facebookdown … so carefully designed with telco architecture models in mind, written from scratch in Erlang, etc … then a company by a drop out who wrote his code in PHP buys it …

@WhatsApp No problem we been told there was issue in secret section of silicon valley apparently someone mistakenly switched off server button & entire Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp effected.

Its too bad Twitter’s fleets team decommissioned their product before today. They could have quantified how much of a failure their copy cat product was after seeing their all-time high usage rates when @Facebook, @instagram and @WhatsApp went down today.
