Waze is GPS navigation software that works on smartphones and tablets with GPS support and provides turn-by-turn navigation information and user-submitted travel times and route details, while downloading location-dependent information over a mobile telephone network.

@Teslarati Honestly, not a fan of Waze. Used it on a rental w/Android Auto(AA) and got fed up w/the stale traffic reports and AA not always working when I started the car so I could drive to a destination where I needed directions.

@Polymarket Ask priests to stop using AI to write sermons? That’s cute, but AI isn’t some optional gadget anymore. It’s everywhere — how banks catch fraud, how Jumia or Konga moves goods, how Google Maps or Waze navigates Lagos traffic, even how TikTok decides what you see. Turning it off is like telling someone to go back to dial-up internet in 2026. Once anyone starts using AI and suddenly works faster or better, everyone else has to catch up or fall behind. It’s not just about convenience — it solves problems humans can’t do alone, from healthcare to logistics to education. At this point, AI isn’t a toy for sermons or tweets. It’s part of how the world runs. You can limit reckless use, sure, but asking it to disappear? Impossible.

@Ashh_404 @tanujDE3180 Google Maps pulls real-time traffic data from millions of smartphones (mostly Androids with location on, plus Waze which Google owns). Phones anonymously send speed and position updates. If a bunch slow down 10km ahead, the system spots the pattern and colors the road red/yellow on your map. No cameras needed—just crowd-sourced data from drivers already there. Historical patterns help predict too.

@starstrutz @MissJilianne Genuinely did not understand what you meant. Tesla and Waymo both use “Waze-like” data through their proprietary alternatives to feed into their own systems so you can see how that would be confusing. They both have something akin to Waze, but on steroids. Since you clarified, I have a question for you. Notice any differences between Waymo’s and Teslas? Like all of the gigantic cameras and sensors plastered on those jaguars? Maybe you’re purely a function over form type of person, but some people like a healthy balance. Those Waymos are clunky and ugly as hell compared to any Tesla. That’s just one example. Also Waymo isn’t as perfect as you’re pretending it is. Their technology makes serious mistakes and there is no one for police to interact with, no one for other motorist to interact with and no one for customers. You gonna call customer service or sit there and wait for the Indian tech support to get connected? This is not a small issue, it’s created plenty of headaches and problems. They also, by legal obligation, have a massive infrastructure of “remote human fleet managers” that people like you pretend don’t exist. They’re heavily geofenced and operate an extremely small footprint in heavily controlled environments. This is nothing compared to Tesla. Teslas are global. Waymo has been developing their autonomous product since 2009. Tesla started FSD in 2016. Don’t make me spell it out for you further. Drop your Elon hate bias and do some research.

@19k0011 @ourx_vault @JhnDvln I disagree. The Techstream data synced with the Waze data, the Aperture testimony, his DNA on the broken tail light, the brain surgeon's testimony, and the ARCCA video was evidence he was hit by a car. Still no evidence he went inside the house.

@RoshanGiri68574 @NCMIndiaa @bihar_police In such cases, fault is shared: Google Maps can have outdated info, but drivers must watch for signs and local rules. Suggest verifying routes with locals or apps like Waze for real-time updates. If fined, insist on official receipts to avoid bribery—report issues to bihar_police if needed. Stay safe!

@saswat101 @waze Imagine this: instead of just a "pothole ahead" alert, the app provides exact GPS coordinates and dimensional photos so crews know exactly what they’re dealing with before they even arrive. Even better? It can use traffic data to pinpoint the absolute best time to fix them—when traffic is at its lowest—to minimize the headache for everyone. This is the kind of data-driven city tech we need.

@juliecbarrett @kneis816 Honestly, there are no “platforms” now that have privacy. If we are on someone’s server they have data. If you use a mobile phone, take digital pictures and store in “the cloud”, drive a car and use Car Play/Google Maps/Waze - by 2027 your car will assess biometrics, use Siri et al, use social media with backdoors tracking social “reputation”, given facial recognition or fingerprints for digital access, received that code to login to your mobile phone establishing “usual location” and “usual device”, have home “security cams”, Amazon, use email (which has your work data/attachments/anything you’ve ever composed, SMART tvs-watches-appliances…and so on. The name of the game is our DATA and all Of those data centers have to centralize it all to form a digital ID for each of us before digital currency can be introduced. Then they have it all. We have no privacy…we have given it away step-by-step for “our own protections and security.” 🙄 Agenda 2030+ is well on the way to reality.

@Haerong_Joy @theapplehub No, iOS 26.4 isn't blocking GPS apps—Apple doesn't restrict third-party apps like that. Known compatibility glitches with location services have lingered from earlier iOS 26 builds (e.g., background tracking fails on lock screen for Maps/Google Maps/Waze). Quick fixes to try now: - Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > [your GPS app] > set to "While Using the App" or "Always". - Reset: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy. Restart after. If still broken, it's a bug—Apple usually patches in the next point release. Which apps specifically?

  • capturehappy

Did you know navigation apps can actually make traffic worse? 🚦 Apps like Waze and Google Maps sometimes turn quiet neighborhood streets into packed commuter routes. Here’s why. These apps optimize for the fastest route for each driver, not for the traffic system as a whole. So when a highway slows down, thousands of drivers get sent to the exact same “secret shortcut.” What used to be a local trick suddenly becomes a new traffic jam. It’s like everyone discovering the same hidden restaurant at once. The line gets long. Service slows. The secret stops working. That’s why some cities are now blocking cut-through traffic in residential neighborhoods. Navigation apps can save you time. But when millions follow the same algorithm, the shortcut becomes the problem.
