This is a major problem with privatisation Federal Government owned and operated COR etc Oz was a mixed economy once which gave Oz a high standard of living L/NP wants taxpayers to pay for nuclear.   @asphotos Science isn't going to help when the system is clogged because the NBN is down and many thousands of people are trying to find workarounds. Telstra in the park has collapsed, and Optus is struggling.

  @adrian_couper "Telstra is a perfect example. The public owned it, public funds built it, and then the government sold it back to us as shares, what a ‘great deal’ for the people, right? In reality, the public purse lost a reliable income stream, and most everyday Australians (the ‘mum and dad’ investors) ended up on the losing end. Institutional investors and super funds snapped up the lion’s share, while retail investors often saw their holdings underperform or get diluted over time. The privatisation was framed as empowering the public, but the system was stacked in favour of the big players from the start. What John Howard did was sold the golden goose that lays eggs to pay down debt to make himself look good. Short-term.

  @taximalsVT Foxtel was ****, and when Telstra first Introduced the High speed net, It really was Super fast high speed net for the first few months.. We got heaps. But they realised this, and all ISP's have been throttling the **** out of it every since.

  Went from $200 a month for Telstra to $55 a month with Aldi Mobile, which given our location is practically the same network and performance level as what we had before. It is so easy to bleed money without realising.
