Telstra would have been a big slow behemoth that got pants’d by Optus and Vodafone. Our gas wouldn’t have been developed - it took 15 years from sale to production. And we would have been paying huge amounts of interest.

Cdbrown (@BrowntownBrew) reported@diss_presso @robb_j_m The problem was that Telstra weren't going to upgrade as they were using the money to install mobile towers and letting the fixed line to rot. Before being sold off they were looking at upgrade paths, but that all got stopped. Telstra were only interested in killing competition

Dave Jones (@eevblog) reportedI found out what the problem was, the entire building is down. NBN backbone issue, so it's not the ISP. Found a guy in the building that runs a mobile repeater business for buildings like this and he has official contacts with Telstra who say it's going to be down for the whole long weekend. Everyone in the building is struggling with phone access. He's going to put a proposal into strata (handily, that's me!) to install mobile repeaters in the building and also the basement carpark. I said I'll approve it.
