[Laurie goes into some history, with the crux being that Rudd’s Communications minister, Stephen Conroy, was made aware of these shortcomings when designing the NBN, and so avoided the use of Telstra, Optus or the PayTV networks. It was a known problem from the start.]

"At the time Abbott and Turnbull took the decision...a raft of external experts went public describing the move as flawed. Surely there were officers in the Comm's department aware of the dubious state of the Telstra copper network and the pay TV cables that proved unusable?"

which has been impacted by faulty cable joins, I know this because I saw that join be repaired. Which reminds me I need to remind our next door neighbor to get Telstra to send a NBN tech out to fix her crappy connection that NBN said is going to fail soon.

@Telstra Why I'd respond to an autoreply is beyond me yet... There isn't an anti-environment group. The fact is 'green energy' isn't green. The mining, the building, the land use, etc are all as bad or worse for the environment than natural gas drilling/use or nuclear.
