  Someone help me out, no apologist for Telstra but the ABC found an "expert" talking up the outage saying the phone not working cost a coffee shop $20,000 in lost income?? $5,OOO dollars an hour coz the phone don't work? Some coffee shop. Fake outrage tabloid reporting yet again?

  @BerryAndBitty @griffonboi @VLine GSM-R or even FRMCS isn't suited for Australia's dense landmass... First of all the latter is essentially 5G which due to its use of higher frequencies essentially means you'll need to duplicate the entire Telstra network (plus more) to achieve anything

  @MikeCarlton01 @Telstra During the event, I predicted the cause to be a faulty software update which had not been properly tested before deployment. I was right: "On Thursday, Ackland confirmed that the update pushed out to the rest of the network dialled back the clock internally to November 2006."

  TELSTRA OUTAGE II After 24hrs still no clear answers on the technical problem! HOWEVER there is a greater strategic infrastructure issue: How can a single malfunction isolate ALL OF EASTERN AUSTRALIA? Such a problem should only affect a region or at worst a State. @abcnews
