  A guy moved into a new apartment. Only “official” internet was FTTN NBN — $90/month for a pathetic 30 Mbps down max. He called Telstra and Optus. Both said “5G Fixed Wireless not available at your address.” He checked a cell tower map anyway. Half a dozen towers within a couple km. Bought a GL.iNet GL-X3000NR 5G router + built a DIY 4x4 MIMO LPDA external antenna. Result? 800 Mbps download / 170 Mbps upload. 25x faster. $75/month. Same building. Here’s exactly how he did it 🧵

  What is going on with @Telstra in metro Melbourne? Any chance of a support service that can actually fix issues instead of telling us to try again in 42 hours and then conveniently "closing" your chat lines?!!!

  @2GB873 Telstra are offering $15 credit to customers for outage. What??????????????? Brady is on $8 million a year. Can 2GB investigate??? This is disgraceful.

  It was all the go in the 1980s to make up for the inflation created by the Vietnam War and the abrupt increase in oil prices. That’s when we got the economic rationalists - tax cuts for the rich, razor gangs for everyone else. Welfare and public service cuts, deregulation of banks and privatisation. Back story is interesting - same folks at work behind the scenes. Yes, GDP went up, but wealth only flowed to the top end. At least Labor under pressure, only semi privatised Telstra and retained controlling shares. Qantas was different. Comm Bank should have at least mostly stayed public -my Mum only had a chance at getting a house because of it, but if we add in subsidies and failures, it has largely cost taxpayers far more and not just financially.

  Not that often I support Sarah Hanson Young but her questions about dodgy $30,000 Telstra GPS that failed are very important. Senate committee discussion - GPS hardware & software. The key question should be: Why wasn't the "firmware" updated in the GPS? @ajamesbragg

  Telstra also Charge the most for just a average amount of data...Than Any of the Telco Companies... Telstra is the Most Expensive. And at Slow download Speeds.. Turn this into a I hate Telstra thread I don't care..you can voice your dissgruntlements here..
