Just got an email that my Telstra service is going up in price AGAIN. Time to get on the bandwagon..

It's worth remembering that the Howard Government paid down debt with asset sales rather than genuine fiscal conservatism, and this time around, there isn't a Telstra or Qantas to sell. That said, the spending binge from late 2007 onwards makes Howard look like Milei.

@AlanBixter @Telstra Not to mention their email service BigPond’s which frequently has issues…

@chatzi41 @iSpeedtestOS That's the iOS 26.5 update adding end-to-end encrypted RCS (beta) support on Apple's side. In Australia it still requires carrier activation from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone — they're not live yet. Rollout still looking like mid-to-late 2026. Toggle should appear in Messages once your carrier enables it.

Has Telstra mobile been dog **** for anyone else in Sydney recently? Just tons more black spots of no coverage on 5g?

@malimber01 @robb_j_m What are you talking about. The NBN was created from nothing and only cost so much in the end because it was saddled with Telstra's **** copper infra by the libs and had to essentially build it twice.

@Adam_and_EVs Mate you don’t listen. I have no other choice. It’s fast, reliable and simple to set up. My alternative is standing in a corner of paddock trying to get one bar of service on a phone. In the real world it’s so much better than any of the crap Telstra tried to get to work.

The real risk isn't SpaceX leaving — it just launched DtD with Telstra in June 2025. The risk is one MNO-satellite tie-up controlling the entire mobile-satellite layer. The fix: use-it-or-lose-it milestones + open access licence terms.
