    @MikeCarlton01 @Telstra Hmmm well they are descended from the Post Master General in 1975 when they became Telecom, then privatised in 2006 and became Telstra. They haven't really screwed up since that time. Customer service may be abyssmal but the national framework has operated well in a big country.

    Telstra is a PRIVATE CORPORATION not a govt institutuon. LNP with Hanson (Ind) in 1997.. partial sale & 2006 with PHON support.. FULL sale! That’s why it’s NOT a good idea to PRIVATISE VITAL INDUSTRIES (communications banks etc)! Labor STILL dealing with/fixing LNP/PHON MESS!

    The Telstra outage had nothing to do with the death of a woman on the state’s south coast – that is the finding of a police investigation into claims made by a South Australian senator. The police commissioner has given Kerrynne Liddle a spectacular smackdown for posting the allegation on social media in the first place. @laurenrose7

    @AlastairClimate @PaulBongiorno Telstra (not Tesla, genius) was privatised by Howard, but Albanese’s Labor government directly contracts Telstra as the Emergency Call Person for Triple Zero. That’s why ACMA and the new Triple Zero Custodian are investigating, and why Labor can slap them with up to $30 million in fines. This wasn’t some 1990s relic. A software defect triggered a nationwide meltdown on 8 July 2026: 600+ Triple Zero calls failed, V/Line trains halted, payments and services crashed, hundreds needed welfare checks, and police are investigating a death potentially linked to it. Telstra itself admitted a secondary Triple Zero fault the next day. Your desperate “privatised decades ago, not our problem” line is pure hack deflection. The federal government has statutory oversight, regulatory power, and contractual responsibility for critical emergency infrastructure right now under Labor. Stop peddling ABC-grade spin for a clapped-out regime that can’t even keep Triple Zero working. Crawl back to your echo chamber.

    TELSTRA OUTAGE III This outage has severe strategic/security implications for Australia. If the whole of Eastern Australia's communications is knocked out by a single malfunction/incident. A major rethink of the configuration of communication infrastructure seems in order.
