So let me get this straight: Elon Musk made a deal w Putin to help turn the war his way by shutting off StarLink on a whim? Did I get that right? Or is Ian Bremmer talking out of his ***?

@MattiMuukkonen @elonmusk What is wrong with speaking to Putin? Speaking might be a tad better than fighting? Ukraina is still using his Starlink for weapons systems Support. Without Elon they would be less happy. Elon is right. Let the people vote. IF they want to leave, leave. Happy ending.

@Hell6roth @fagmyer @ukraine_map Exactly! You said it yourself, "they PARTLY paid" for a SMALL % of terminals, while SpaceX OWNS the 2400 satellites that are being used AND has paid for the VAST majority of Starlink terminals and service. Credit where credit is due

@densaer I’m interested in the provisioning flow, and whether downloading an eSIM can be done via the network the SIM will be for. If that works, this with a Starlink backhaul could have significant value in affordable disaster and rural mobilization scenarios.

@yVibrantCapital @WholeMarsBlog I can’t think of any other ways for Putin to bring down Starlink. Too many to shoot down, spacex team too smart to hack. Now he has the west media and Ukrainian helping him.

@C_Castaneda_NL @MacaesBruno I would be more than just surprised if there isn´t an end-to-end encryption layered on top of whatever they are sending. Location may be an issue, but Starlink Terminals gettin fragged left and right would get noticed quite quick.

@pambananakazi82 @MacaesBruno Providing Internet to a Starlink terminal is itself a service. US sanctions apply to the Crimea region of Ukraine. Nothing in the EO says that the sanctions don't apply to Ukrainians in Crimea.

In actual fact, of course, we have no clue what the theoretical lost revenue is of Ukrainians not paying full price for using Starlink. I'd wager that if SpaceX tried to charge for the service, the usage might take a bit of a nosedive. The price ($600/mo) is insanely high.

@JuliaDavisNews See @elonmusk how your "good anti-nuclear war" intentions are going to be used by 🇷🇺? They LIE as soon as they open their mouths, they declare void promises, one after another, again & again. They want Starlink & your reputation down. But you cried & called us "bots", didn't you?

@bbdd333 I can see the possible benefit of dropping this, plus an antenna w a Starlink kit on a hilltop for wildfire response. Often the phones don’t work for fire crews (power cuts will take out cell sites once gen is down). You can deploy it similarly to a portable repeater.
