@DrunkGerber @SimpleJackCap @zerohedge someone told me about starlink about a year ago i put my 99 dollar deposit down, then i read the fine print and realized it was a musk company and was like oh **** I just lost my 99 dollars, not to compare this to the plight of a Ukrainian at the moment

@LFCunbiasedFan @Undoomed Starlink is a snappy (quick connecting) mid-range (medium cable speeds) via satellites and dishes, rather than hyper-fast cable or super-slow dishes. It's made to give people reasonable service in hard-to-reach places. It's decent internet, in far places.

people really still think Elon musk is a Very Good Dude even tho the only thing he's done that is decent recently is using starlink to help in Tonga and now Ukraine. he still sucks but it would be an even worse look for him if his actually somewhat useful satellite internet- 1/2

@DrEricDing @FedorovMykhailo @Twitter Don't send/receive to a satellite if hiding your location is important. If it is, use it while moving, but you don't control the air so your signal will be received by others than Starlink. Don't connect if you R a person targeted by Putin. Or in R in govt.

Wonder how many people in Ukraine have starlink dishes... Given how scarce they have been. Hopefully there's a stockpile they can send. Free internet to all terminals in the war zone. Those space lasers could be a big boosts to avoid ground station issues

I've been composing a Sci-Fi / Fantasy novel for years based in the 26th Century. In the novel, long distance communications across star systems is conducted through a system called "Starlink." I wonder if this is going to be an issue with @elonmusk when I end up publishing.

@jcrcentral @APompliano Starlink are mini satellites. There are 1,970 orbiting. This was always part of a larger plan that space weapons could not shut everything down by stopping a handful of satellites.
