@lebntb2016 @AVindman @elonmusk That’s raises a whole different issue about ISPs throttling bandwidth and jacking up cost which is BS. I can’t imagine Musk keeping Starlink free indefinitely however. You are right I don’t live in an urban setting atm.

@Guylouis @SpaceX That sucks, I bought Starlink for RVs for the sole purpose of traveling. Haven’t tested it yet, but if it doesn’t work in remote areas of the US, I’ll probably regret that purchase.

@JayinKyiv Spreading misinformation is not cool. Quite a bold claim that "Musk turned off starlink because Putin told him". No proof for that, and no proof that it was turned off. There are reports it doesn't work in some areas.

@cullend @Billbrowder @davvyk I’m not saying US takes over Starlink, I’m saying since US paid for a big chunk of transmitters, and facilitated the logistics, they have a stake in it and can ensure that he provides service in agreed upon areas.

@niona1122 No, Comcast runs that coaxial ped to your house before you even buy it. They pay for it. Similarly, Starlink is supposed to pay for the infrastructure necessary to bring that service to your home.

@niona1122 The reality of the situation is that US taxpayers facilitated the rollout of Starlink service to Ukraine. And the government even paid for some of the dishes that were supposed to be free, which is just kinda weird, but fine. I’m all for that. But it’s not a donation.

@lander Exactly, the "coaxial cables" they lay, the infrastructure is paid by them. For Starlink, the Satellites are their infrastructure they send data through. They pay for that. The receivers are sold to customers, along with the service.

@kate_tice Yeah they found a solution for the plume causing transmission issues. My guess is Starlink is involved.
