@elonmusk Yeah...I am ok with Space X, but starlink should not be happening. No one company should be sending thousands of satellites into space. No one is considering the damage that could be done due to space debris. Its exponential and could make it to dangerous for manned space flight.

So it looks like we can get Starlink at the new place; $35 more than what I'm paying now for FIOS, with the same speeds. But Starlink is supposed to get better as the network is built out. It is either that or settling for CenturyLink and Xfinity. Or HughesNet, lol.

@PhiIStone @elonmusk A direct benefit we could resolve if we didn't let telecoms just disregard areas. "During ascent" is irrelevant if it's still cutting swathes across telescope scans at height, never mind that the starlink satellites are irrelevant for climatology.

Update: starlink’s been working pretty well. One issue was improved by moving it further from another wifi router. Still can’t config starlink’s wifi (update coming?). Also, I’d sent a bug report about their stats page and after a couple weeks they fixed it, which is nice.

@ow Yikes! Typically use 500GB-1TB/month here (using for home line) and pay £17/month for unlimited 4G data. Speeds are usually around 50MB/s down and 30MB/s up. How viable would Starlink be for you?

@philipplgh @pedrouid Wait until @elonmusk smartens up and installs a software udpate on Skylink to supply crypto nodes. Then the entire future of this monetary network becomes literally invincable. If I was Musk, I'd be rushing to install full nodes on every Starlink sattelite for each major chain.

@TSFayeLockwood I really don’t think you can say that at this point. StarLink low-orbit satellite internet would be a huge gamechanger for people all over the world if they can actually bring the price down. Becoming a multi-planetary species is positive progress. It’s bigger picture.

Can @elonmusk just move a few #Starlink satellites around and beem some free, uncensored WiFi down to Cuba? Imagine how cool it would be if he could say “I’m the guy who ended communism in Cuba.” Then he could do North Korea next.
