@F52C877B @signalapp The problem I personally see with Signal is that there's zero evidence that their claims are right. You use a centralized service, at least the server part is not auditable, and that's it. Provable trustworthiness looks different to me.

For my friends/contacts joining @signalapp make it your default messaging app otherwise it won't help. You'll neither be able to receive messages promptly nor would your messages be secure.

@ResearchLaw @signalapp Thanks Richard. Appreciate the effort. However problem with each messaging app seems to be is that it automatically add all of my existing contacts. It should be an option where I can allow it to sync it, just like FB, LinkedIn etc.

@netzverweigerer @signalapp The server is mainly used to put people together, but everything in Signal is end to end encrypted, so there’s not much the server can access (and they don’t even store the PII they could access). This is a philosophy issue, not a security/privacy one (yet).

@signalapp Hi Signal, new users in China are having difficulties registering. After filling in mobile numbers it goes into an infinite circling without sending a verification code. Using a VPN solves the issue. Has the verification server been blocked by the Chinese firewall?

@F52C877B @signalapp That's actually wrong on multiple levels, so let's debunk this. First of all, this isn't SIP. The clients don't communicate with each other. The whole communication is still going onto some centralized entity. That's absolutely a privacy issue, even with E2E.

- Staying supports Facebook as unethical tech giant. I don't want this. I'm on @signalapp if you want to continue chatting, and I have been there for years. The only outage I ever encountered was last month, as people started running to Signal en masse to ditch WhatsApp

@signalapp if i mute a conversation i don't want it to have a notification badge inside the app. i don't want it to pop back to the top of my messages. i want it MUTED so that i don't see it and it's not bothering me. Please fix this, "here's a visual reminder" is NOT muting.

@signalapp past few weeks been seeing the notification icon appear and when I pull down it says "checking for messages." Is this legit? If so, why are you doing this? I don't need this notification, it needlessly draws my attention. Disruption and waste of time.

@codingneko @signalapp All message apps require a phone number. They wouldn't be able to deliver messages to you without it. Unlike other message apps, Signal neither collects nor saves any other data about you. If the phone number is an issue then the only solution would be to not use a messaging app.
