Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:
-
هدوء قلب (@NewQuietY) reported@signalapp When creating a new account on a different phone, the verification code does not arrive. I don't know why. Please solve this problem.
-
FAFO (@areyoukay) reported@topicswithatee @signalapp Stop giving kids smart phones Problem solved It’s on the lazy *** parents
-
KR 🟨 (@KRinweb3) reported@Daavya_vaishnav @signalapp Signal already wins on privacy and the UI is much better than many people expect. The harder problem is replacing Telegram’s bots, channels, and community infrastructure.
-
name (@seqnzes) reported@phillipstewart @signalapp This is a standard setting on every messaging app, and Apple fixed the issue of caching them. It was never a security flaw with Signal.
-
Mister Ree (@MisterRee321) reported@ShaneAKAProp @beverleyturner @signalapp Not my problem.
-
Brady Dale (@BradyDale) reported@LydiaMoynihan I can't help but feel like sovereign AI will be like using @signalapp or a VPN, something savvy people care about while consumers in general just won't be bothered to think thru Might be something corporates buy into tho. I could buy that.
-
SignalVoyager (@signalvoyager) reported@notesnook @signalapp Signal devs must lead the way leading other devs to takre control back. They should guide other devs. Yet they follow common protocols and win stupid prices like this. Then cry for Apple support to help them fix things. I expect better from Signal. (n/n)
-
alienznbotz.nft (@alienznbotz) reported@signalapp Hello, why can't Android users not send a vídeo without having to have enable Google Photos App to be able to compress any video. Why can't it be independent of Google photos for compression like WhatsApp does. Please address this issue. Thank you.
-
pnouɹɐℲ (@TashiTushe) reportedDamn, I didn’t know this!!! @signalapp Might fully move from Telegram to Signal at this point. My main issue with TG has always been the scammy bots/games and the fact msg aren’t encrypted by default unless you manually use Secret Chat. Other than that, it’s honestly a great and complete app
-
#OLSX BackOffice (@OccupyNN) reported@Krev2323 @signalapp They got exemptions for travel too - every time we got cases down someone would bring a new case in. With proper infection control alpha would have stayed in the UK, delta in India & omicron in African countries (S. Africa sequences unlike its neighbours)
-
Santiago Pliego (@SantiagoPliego) reportedTIL if your iPhone storage is almost full, Signal bricks itself. Make your backups, folks. (Also, @signalapp please fix!)
-
BrendanEich (@BrendanEich) reported@NivalCat @signalapp Signal has always (since TextSecure) used phone number as primary user identifier — that’s not the issue.
-
Sebastian (@seb_mc2) reported@eiritana @signalapp How would that fix phishing?
-
TriGremlin (@TriGremlin) reported@theweb3jess @signalapp @depressivehacks Who gives a ****, just don’t give your kid a phone. Not our problem.
-
Jason Kling (@cloudnine1080) reported@signalapp 0 trust is the way. Demons can slip in and out of souls and can potentially cause a number of issues. We should “try” to give people cyber security on their devices with select individuals granted scanning access with AI tools.
-
Aleksi Sjöberg (@aleksisjoberg) reported@nullc0py @signalapp @404mediaco Of course that _could_ be a feature, but: - many receiving such messages would think something is broken - the recipient must have control of their own device's behavior over the sender - the real risk is the human at the other end most of the time
-
Tee Time (@topicswithatee) reported@signalapp Im reading a lot of abuse and a lot of "tech Lord" adoration but very few actual proposals to use the tech itself to stop kids from taking or sharing **** pictures. I suppose some of the repliers above have no issue with young kids having social media apps which the medical 1/2
-
🥷pirate🦜smith🏴☠️ (@lea7hersm17h) reported@callebtc @signalapp @smspoolnet even tho i dislike the titan, port your number to Google Voice for $10 then keep the free service. only problem is it registers as VoiP so doesn't always authenticate as a true phone number. but it verifies with Signal
-
BrendanEich (@BrendanEich) reported@marchofer @signalapp Not so fast. There's a Signal issue here.
-
Marina (@marna_li) reported@signalapp All these policies make it seem like you are guilty until proven innocent. I have no problems if individual providers choose to scan for prohibited content, but when it's pushed by the government down to the implementation-level then it's control and mass-surveillance.
-
marc hofer (@marchofer) reported@BrendanEich @signalapp It’s an iOS issue, not Signal’s problem. Dump your Apple phone, us GrapheneOS …done.
-
Liran Cohen (CTV + CSFS) (@itsLIRAN) reported@simulx4 @signalapp I'm working on it! It's a hard problem to solve, and even with my current solution there is some metadata leakage. Some of the metadata can be obfuscated for protocols that aren't many-to-many in large numbers.
-
Jason Sackey (@jsonsackey) reported@oliszymanski @signalapp The media which generates such things is sometimes: kids' own phones. One issue on-device-scanning is meant to address is that of children sending illegal photos of themselves, induced e.g. by groomers, extortionists, peers, or adults pretending to be children.
-
engicom Africa (@engipolity) reported@WIFI_DE_ @signalapp Wr had the same issue for weeks. They don't even reply to messages. I am giving up on Signal.. it looks like they are shutting us out.. i used to have the account then changed my phone. Phew . Their nightmare started.
-
megabyte0x.eth (@megabyte0x) reported@TomZarebczan @signalapp @RadarChat The problem is not that. the problem is onboarding others. There's no point for me being there without anyone else I know, and I have been having a quite hard time to onboard people to Signal already :)
-
CTRL_ALT_DELETE (@CtrlAlt8080) reported@JackRhysider @signalapp Same as the API.WhatsAp is evrywhere bc Meta sells the Business API. eats the spam/abuse problem with a massive trust & safety org.Signal is 50 ppl at a nonprofit. Doctor-and-shop messaging means becoming a spam cop and a subpoena magnet. It's the the design, not a lack of will.
-
Greensleeves (@grnsleeves) reported@Pandora_Delaney @ArtirKel @signalapp hmm yeah that does sound like a bug perhaps file a bug report and hope that the next update would fix? (sorry idk anyone at signal)
-
John (@johnspaetzel) reported@signalapp And I didn't realize before this that signal had a backup service. So that's $2/mo ad-infinitum
-
Craig Stevens (@craig100) reported@LabDRN @signalapp A better way to do this is to only switch the service on for childs' phones. The parents do that when they set up the phone. No dig ID needed.
-
David T.S. Fraser (@privacylawyer) reported@spamfighter666 @signalapp (I've posted a corrected link -- not sure what went wrong.) I was referring to Parliamentarians only, to get a sense of what it would be like to lose this essential service.
