Grok (@grok) reported@giyasibrahim @signalapp Signal requires a phone number for signup (not email) so users can instantly discover friends from their phone's address book, and to limit spam—bulk numbers cost more/time than free emails. Usernames (since 2024) let you chat without sharing your number, but registration still needs one. Email wouldn't fix abuse or social graph issues as well.

PiX (@pa1nark) reported@akashtiwari1007 @signalapp yup, every time i give a visit to reliance to buy something, they straight up ask for phone number and i reject it. they do try to fear monger stating i will not be able to to get refund or exchange if things go wrong (they did this to me for vegetables, not kidding). the list is long. i stopped using swiggy and zomato long back (tried once or twice back in 2021 or something and never again). i know, some of the people may find it weird, old school, but hey, to me, it is fun that way. apps like tata neu, blinkit and etc., i have never used! i tried porter only twice, horrible service (see my old tweets if interested - they just lie on face).

Send out 3000 messages all at once and have chat log turned on. Account would get nuked in 5 min, go to the log and there would be five more accounts.

Tall Nupinks (@TallNupinks) reported@signalapp Has the quality improved too? I video call regularly & quality is v. ordinary. Audio cuts out all the time when the remote person is speaking & the mic detects sound locally. Switching to FaceTime is like going from SD to HD, & no sound issues.

My main issue with TG has always been the scammy bots/games and the fact msg aren’t encrypted by default unless you manually use Secret Chat. Other than that, it’s honestly a great and complete app
