@JusticeRage @signalapp It looks like a connection is being reused. When I force close the app, then enter your made-up address, I get a connection failed error. But if I had an existing proxy set, then change to your address, it reports it connected successfully. Should file a bug.

@signalapp The only problem is @Docker hub is not accessible in Iran due to sanctions by the united states. Makes it a pain to use these containers with an Iranian IP (need to use a VPN/proxy)

@signalapp @janboehm Snowflake is safe to run if you're in a democracy, because it's not the Tor exit node, but an entry node. So, you won't get into trouble if it's being misused for illegal things.

@signalapp @signalapp Does the server location matter? The last time they disconnected the internet, the servers located in Iran had access to the internet, but servers outside were inaccessible. This, of course, depends on how obscure the proxy protocol is; otherwise, it can be a problem.

@enoclue @signalapp The last 2 days they just cut off temporary mobile internet from the late afternoon until the morning. Social Media, western news websites and Signal is blocked on all networks 24/7. You can definitely help with a proxy!

@derekmorr @memelordengels @signalapp aha, thank you. that does help me understand the theory! if i understand correctly, a user of your proxy must trust "you" to not be an Agent running a mitm on your node. i suspect Signal mitigates this, but either way it doesn't sound like the Onion threat model

@signalapp I guess not,but still want to ask. Is there an more easy way? Like the browser extension snowflake from tor. That's much easier to set up. Could people also use the tor network (e.g. via snowflake) to access signal service?
