Be part of the Dead Network. It starts with yes. No, Optus. 😑

@HailMarxism @sidherian Placing the onus on many probably poor and vulnerable customers to sue a corporation is short-sighted. Better option: governments re-issues documents for those notified as affected and directly bills/sues Optus themselves :) :)

@kristiesulliv How would I even know if my drivers licence has been part of the data breach. I've received a generic email from optus, my on line account looks 'normal', I've never added personal information to my profile but obviously optus obtained it when I switched.

@abcsydney If an affected customer is identified by Optus, proof of that should be taken to ServiceNSW and a fresh licence issued, with Optus picking up the bill for all of them. Reimbursement means having to give bank details to Optus. Why?

The poor staff at Optus, they must be getting absolutely slammed at the moment. Remember, the customer service person you are speaking to is NOT RESPONSIBLE for the breach.

@cameronwilson I haven’t been an Optus customer since 2009, and I still got an email. Presumably if they still had my information on file, that’d be a breach of the APP.

@andrew_the_pom @Optus It's like customers expect every thing to overturned and redone from the ground floor because of an issue not of their doing.

@andrew_the_pom @Optus They have stores as well that can help give information or point you in the right direction. Many people will be asking questions at the moment so there would be longer than usual wait times..

@berthon_jones I worked at Telstra. We had (some) customer data in dev/test environments (which is where the Optus leak occurred) There is chronic underinvestment in data masking for development environments... In many large orgs.
