@manpageman @Optus Which is why I always thought "Data is the new oil" was a terrible metaphor. Marketers used it to try to say "data powers everything" while oddly forgetting about CO2 and myriad other oil-related downsides

  • Miggie07758273 Miggie (@Miggie07758273) reported

@chdyctt @macsween_prue @Optus I’m not an Optus customer but Telstra, CBA, & a few other orgs have all contacted me this past week to let me know how they are protecting my data…

  • greentravellist ricky@greentravellist.com (@greentravellist) reported

@Optus @RunnerSA18 Then I can't contact you because of delays. As a former customer who has unsubscribed from all emails how exactly am I supposed to find out if my data (you kept for years) has been breached/stolen.

  • kimmipt2 Kimmipt2 (@kimmipt2) reported

@macsween_prue @Optus We are affected. Got one email from Optus saying oh opps. And then nothing. We are in central west NSW. Terrible service from both major carriers. Forget the others. They just dont give a rats. Just pay your money.

  • CarltonBree Bree Carlton (@CarltonBree) reported

@MStoove @Optus Been going in store in the hope of receiving useful updates from a human but they still haven’t managed to drill down into what data of mine has been exposed. They gave me a link and code for an Equifax subscription and that doesn’t even work. This is such a massive **** show

  • ChefWalker1965 chefwalker (@ChefWalker1965) reported

@juneslater17 Ironically 9 million Australians have last week had all their private information hacked after an Optus data breach 🙄. People needing new passports, driving’s licences etc now, huge issues.

  • karenandrewsmp Karen Andrews MP (@karenandrewsmp) reported from Gold Coast, State of Queensland

Optus is already working with the AFP. What legislative steps is the Home Affairs Minister taking to specifically ensure this type of incident is prevented in future?

  • SWF_946 SWF_946 (@SWF_946) reported

@9NewsSyd The PR campaign isn't going to work @optus. As a customer service organisation there is nothing worse than NOT looking after their customers. * Recent communication - No * Offers for help & support - No * Compensation - No * Still want to be a Customer - NO #optusfail

  • James57498470 James (@James57498470) reported

@RowdyAndTed There really isn't any point if card numbers weren't stolen. Like none at all. The public are being treated like they're stupid by the NSW government. It's really frustrating. Optus shouldn't pay for this, it endorses a false sense of security and is a total waste of plastic.

  • joshgnosis Josh Taylor (@joshgnosis) reported

She says Optus have advised her that they've advised those 10,200 people they are in the leak that was dropped earlier this week. She says those people should work to immediately cancel their ID docs.
