@joshgnosis I think Optus may have broken laws in relation to keeping PII secure if the API was left open, which hopefully will form the basis of a class action if true.

@samr6003 @Optus So shortsighted by @VicRoads . They’re going to end up expending way more energy and resources if identity theft starts happening at a large scale. Hope that’s just the company line while they work out a better solution

@_ChungHui @Optus Couldn’t agree more. Will be interesting to see if this policy changes in the coming days. Personally I’ll either surrender my license or trip up to NSW and get one there using my sisters address and then cancel my Vic one. Desperate times.

@benavu54 They'd better not give customer data to banks! That's a breach in itself. All they need to do is sight ID documents and delete them. It's so simple and the law already prohibits retaining personal information when no longer needed #Optus #Optusdatabreach

@Optus Wasn't the email you sent out supposed to explain what to do if your data had been compromised ? Why is the tone of the email 'suck it, Plebs and you do all the leg work to fix our mistake and there'll be no compensation either' How is that acceptable?

The actual issue is that Optus failed to deal surely with sensitive PII in a mission critical and well established products - with potentially tragic consequences. Then they labelled themselves the victims. Now they’re just lying to customers. Using a new gmail won’t help lol

Bruh I actually feel for the people working in customer service at #Optus - must be getting so many irate callers...
