Optus has a large team of security and network professional , even them could not protect and mitigate all risks all the time. No wonder my Optus number kept getting calls from strange numbers from around the world. #cybersecurity @Optus @PeterDutton_MP @AlboMP #hackers

@Jeremy_Kirk I seriously doubt that the person conducting the extortion is actually the first bad actor to access this information en masse, likely they are just the first to publicly demand a payment. I'd like to see #Optus disclose just how long this gaping security hole has been there.

@just_brash @ElaineM11584892 I'll never forget a nurse colleague coming to work upset by an optus bill charging the monthly rate plus an extra $1000 due to "excess usage" . We howled optus out on her behalf and they backed right off. A legal and public exposure. We nurses don't forget.

Received an email from Optus yesterday advising of the hack. So they still have my email address despite the account not being active for 5 years. Attempted to log into the account to change passwords & scrub details. Couldn't because my account is flagged as inactive. WTF?😬🤔
