    @adamliaw As someone who used to lawyer with telcos: Telcos are slow and hesitant to agree to resolutions. Left and right hands don’t speak. It is the wild Wild West. The govt paying looks good, solves things quickly, and they can then shame Optus publicly (or try force by law) to pay.

    Why on earth did @Optus have people’s drivers licence numbers in the first place? And medical records????? This isn’t a hacking problem. It’s a completely unnecessary data collection problem.

    Certainly noticing that Optus network and mail server performance has gone down the toilet this week. Unresponsive to the max.

    @mjrowland68 @BreakfastNews I have had zip zero nix nadda. At all. No idea if I have been breached and have got all my info from the news. Nothing from #optus. Terrible incident management and crisis comms.

    So I haven’t been with @optus for about 5 years yet I just received an email saying that as a former customer my data has been hacked. WTAF?!? Why do you still have my information on file? #OptusDataBreach

    @mjrowland68 @BreakfastNews Ex @Optus internet customer, just got my email overnight. No ID docs from back then (funny how they could serve me just fine without them), just DOB, address, email & phone. So I guess I just have to sell up & move house to resolve the issue 🤷

    @erfbeeass I spoke with @optus yesterday and despite not being a current customer (only 2 years) was told that they are required to retain records for 6 years. I knew of the meta data for 2 years but all else?

    @mjrowland68 @BreakfastNews An email telling me that as a former Optus customer, some of my personal data has been breached. They may be foreseeing the future but I am a current Optus customer.

    @7NewsAdelaide @PMalinauskasMP It’s a long drive for me and the waiting times to get a new drivers licence. I’m not impressed being a former Optus customer.
