@alifrance5 @AnimaeOK The customer always pays in the end. Optus prices will rise to compensate their shareholders for any short term dip in profits.

@MikeCarlton01 @GodmotherComara U.K. backpackers will be arriving in droves, throwing away their return trip tickets and just staying in Australia. Who can blame them. They wont be able to emigrate, and there's too many of them to be tracked down. If they want new Australian identification, just ask Optus.

@AdyLady9969 @Magpie1954nBird I’ve been waiting since 2nd Sept for my phone to arrive in the store where I ordered it from. Currently have no phone. No help up to this point. I have no way forward. Complained to TIO, and @Optus. Considering next move.

@Jeremy_Kirk It takes time to pull down that amount of data. Optus won't say how long the API was exposed for I suspect other groups accessed the API and have the data.

Your dept blew-off everyone in civil society who told them they were stupid, believing instead that all the true experts are government officials. Bit weird to keep behaving like that after Optus made them all so fabulously wrong about everything they ever said. @MarkDreyfusKCMP

Hey, @Optus, are you now ignoring all Qs from affected punters such as mine? What a massive CR fail, not to mention the catastrophic tech breach which caused this #OptusDataBreach #auspol

@3AW693 That's silly. Optus is a good value service provider, it would be throwing out the baby with the bath water. This hack could have happened to anyone, and I doubt we've seen the last of its type. Their communication could be better, agree, but to wish their failure is stupid.

@PatsKarvelas Why has there been no mention at all about the Transport For NSW (Services NSW) data breach that caused untold grief yet noone was told for two years. After the damage was already done. No lessons learned. No action taken. The Optus breach might have been avoided.

  • Jianfu_Chen
    Jianfu Chen (@Jianfu_Chen) reported

Optus is not just hacked; it is ******: If you call its number (that's what it email says), it simply asks you not to call. If you continue to select General inquiry or technical support, it simply says that they are closed! What a disgrace.

Attorney General @MarkDreyfusKCMP has flagged changes to data retention laws, so companies are made to dispose of data when they no longer have a purpose for it. I.e. when a customer leaves a provider like Optus. @9NewsAUS
