@Doziam @Optus There are others out there that Aussies are recommending, but I just think I'll go a safe route. And at least this way I also get signal when I'm out camping, which only happens 50% of the time currently.

If you are genuinely serious about your customers welfare and security, you could offer at least 2 years of credit monitoring service, at your cost, to affected customers like other companies have done in your circomstance! @Optus @OptusNewsRoom #OptusDataBreach #OptusHack #Optus

@HackerCyberSec Optus claimed to have a "sophisticated" security apparatus in place. Management and directors share blame for essentially lying to the public, and the techies for gross amateurish incompetence. "With what they've got" - poor developers

Got my email finally, found in spam folder like many others. This incident could not have been handled more poorly by Optus.

@AusGovSlave @ClareONeilMP It's still appalling that Optus allowed this to happen. They should not have had the data exposed to a public network by an api being tested. It's incredibly stupid and lax IT practice. Some IT boffins need to be fired no question. And Optus have to accept responsibility 100%

@AusGovSlave @ClareONeilMP It seems it was a vulnerability in an api combined with testing a new platform, plugged into the Optus data for testing, on an internet connected network. So not quite as simple as a random url. Hackers who know the vulnerability would have been probing likely users of the api.

After over fifteen years of being a loyal @Optus customer, it's finally time for me to switch. The complete blunder on data security leaking millions of passports, licenses and other personal details is just too much. They do not deserve business from Australians. TIO time.

@kbrspace @Optus one of my 3 accounts has just finished its contract and I used your chat to hopefully convert it to a prepaid service. Your guy wanted me to provide my ID docs to complete this,I thought, very easy process. The same ID docs that were stolen this week
