Did Optus stuff up? Sure did. But banks and credit card companies and businesses will happily create an account in what ever name they are given over the phone without citing the person or checking with other companies if the data was stolen. Also a problem. #qanda

  • ACapitalFoot Andrew Foot (@ACapitalFoot) reported

Everyone piling on Optus atm. And for sure this is a disaster for many. But I've never been in an organisation where human error did not lead to sensitive data being exposed. Maybe just an email sent to the wrong person. Maybe something bigger. Unfortunately human error remains

Optus: Former Virgin Mobile, Gomo customers could also be victims of Optus data hack == Albo - do you really believe that Optus could have prevented this hacking scam ??? if you do then you are an incompetent idiot getting very bad advice

so @optus will fight to not pay any compensation for 2.8M with #databreach identity compromise so they don't close down but courts may decide to close them when they declare bankruptcy

  • JPereira1974 Justin Pereira™ 🇦🇺 (@JPereira1974) reported

I have been an @Optus customer for over 20 years. I have signed numerous new phone contracts during this time and have been required to produce photo identification every time to initiate those new contracts.

@ChrisHeHim1 Is Optus responsible? Yes! Is Optus being fined?? Unsure. Should Optus FIX their MESS? Yep…cough up #OptusDataBreach ….protect your customers and reputation. Cover the cost of new ID for those affected

  • jxlawler Julie Lawler💉x4 😷 #VoteYes (@jxlawler) reported

@iDGiam @soils1111 That’s true. Optus breach victims cannot get licence replaced online due to the dept having to issue a new number. Plus, if someone dodgy has your licence number it could be that person applying on line for your shiny new licence to go to their address. 🙏 thank you to the staff

  • roseg roseg (@roseg) reported

There are lots of carriers that use the Optus network to provide internet and telephone. Includes Aldi cards and others, I think. Are any of those accounts at risk? Does anyone know?

@abc730 @ClareONeilMP The Optus fkup proves that privatisation of essential services like this is an EXTREMELY bad idea. What if we were at War and some treasonous oligarch decided it was worth their while selling all our info to the enemy?
