@CharacterEyes @ClareONeilMP @Qldaah Optus has pretty much no accountability under our laws. It's left up to the company and its shareholders to decide if she's accountable or not. This sucks but unless some legislation is changed to protect individuals, corps can do w/e here in Aus.

  • _TimMcMahon Tim McMahon (@_TimMcMahon) reported

@troyhunt @haveibeenpwned ID verification services could leverage @haveibeenpwned to let companies know that an ID number has been compromised and probably shouldn't be used. Or Optus could give the leaked ID numbers to each issuing body so that they can co-ordinate a mass re-issue...

  • LeftDownunder Leftist Downunder (@LeftDownunder) reported

Cybersecurity is expensive. So there’s two options with this Optus situation. Either impose massive fines for failing to adequately protect customer data, to create an incentive that currently doesn’t exist, or nationalise it and turn telecommunication back into a public utility.

******* OPTUS? 10k customers private information has been released, and i find out VIA ******* FACEBOOK? ******* AWFUL CUSTOMER "SERVICE" WHAT A ******* JOKE @Optus

  • Edgemonsta Unpublished Critic (@Edgemonsta) reported

How good is @Optus? They bump up charges to maximise profits (no other reason) and almost immediately after allow customer data to be stolen through utter ineptitude. They should be fined millions, and also have to compensate current customers big time. CEO should go! #auspol

@GritfoxPriv @Telstra Can’t believe I switched to Optus when the floods happened cause internet was down for 2 weeks, they have my info now, let’s just hope I’m one of the lucky ones who dosent get it released

  • Dolly196952 Mary Stylianopoulos (@Dolly196952) reported

Optus was hacked. How could Optus a telecommunications company be hacked? You would think that it would be the last company to be hacked. Well, it was. And I am a customer. In other news, I do not comment at CDAN or anywhere else but here. Keep repeating it so it will sink in.

  • Mel20017132 Melsa (@Mel20017132) reported

Sooo… apparently the Optus hacker has now deleted all the files the stole and the details of 10,000 customers was never released. Hacker said there was too much attention and apologised. Seems very dodgy to me.

  • Margie_Bloch Margie Bloch (@Margie_Bloch) reported

@susanfranciswr1 @Optus I'm not an Optus customer but will use my full vocabulary of swears on behalf of friends who are.

  • iammrdom dynamic island dom (@iammrdom) reported from Adelaide, State of South Australia

Seems like @Optus is going to avoid the repercussions of a data leak. Maybe a good chance to look at their offering and price it accordingly to their network quality. Lower prices to add customers.
