@ZucchiniBikini This is someone fudging & dodging the issue. Optus didn't keep copies of the identity documents; they kept the identity numbers. The numbers would likely still need to be to be obtained to index into this matching service, and then retained.

@Pinched @Mbridget21 It feels that way more an more everyday. The response by Optus initially for a tech problem was very limp and continues to be. The dumb ransom amount. It all seems faked.

@AlboMP fix the optus and telstra breach! If you think for one minute the people will accept a digital ID system you are mistaken, the people I'll rise this isn't Chy nah! This is a very big mistake tge corrupt government is making upon the people!

@LeslynLewis @TomWiboltt After the optus hack last week here in Australia, no one should ever put their id online. Everyone with an optus account literally has to get new drivers licence numbers, which has enormous issues -> #OptusHack

Optus will certainly carry the can for this for a long long time - there are some customers they'll simply never get or never get back bc of it. I could see them taking a sustained profitability hit.

My last thought on the Optus subject before I settle down to properly work: how many ppl do you reckon got fired or will get fired over this, and how much prospect do you think the person who actually left the door open has of ever working in IT again?
