anyway, obviously i'm looking for a new mobile internet provider. incredible **** up from optus, they should fire everyone involved, and personally suck me off before expecting me to remain a customer

  • jjclenton Old Grey Raven (@jjclenton) reported

@Optus @RunnerSA18 I have been affected by your failure! As an ex-customer why did you still have all my details on file? If you kept my details in the hope I would return? I will never be a customer again now that I know you cannot be trusted to look after my data! #OptusHack

  • JamesWi91340985 James Wilson (@JamesWi91340985) reported

@MichaelR03 @Optus People need to understand that when they get hacked, their accounts can be used to scam people and that makes them liable Text @big_jozi0hack on Instagram for help

  • mshirlaw Matt Shirlaw (@mshirlaw) reported

I’m guessing whoever obtained all of the Optus data wanted to narrow down the list to customers who still had an active account before offering it for sale on the dark net and has already conducted a huge spam campaign

  • RoyceRk2 Royce Kurmelovs (@RoyceRk2) reported

The hot list is a list of Optus accounts where, if any request is made for a new service or product within a certain length of time, the applicant is asked to go into a store in person to finalise the transaction. Speaks to the significance of the data that's been stolen. /4

  • molma69 Captain Happy (@molma69) reported

I have not been a customer at optus for over 3 years. Why do they still have all my personal details on their systems? #OptusHack

  • boggeley potato man (@boggeley) reported

@mnurkic i got the email from optus and seriously like, this should actually be a criminal offense. there should be legislation around the incredibly poor handling of PII up to and including the IDs you used as Proof of ID. more than enough to impersonate you through online verification

  • georgia2210 Georgia L. Smith 🦝 (@georgia2210) reported

@MoarToast @Optus Their customer data is probably a mess.

  • ariadne_quinn Ariadne Quinn 💉x5 (@ariadne_quinn) reported

So @Optus what are you doing to help people whose data you have exposed?? Saying “look out for suspicious activity”, “don’t click on links” etc… That doesn’t actively help the people at risk in this epic disaster. #OptusHack #OptusDataBreach #optusfail

Thoughts on the Optus hack: - Optus is looking at some big costs soon - following CCT, Optus is unlikely to pass those costs onto its customers - Optus is a reseller, so expect Optus network providers to have prices passed on to them - there's a lifetime of ID theft fallout ahead
