@redruby17 @Equifax Oh ok, that makes sense. I didn’t know this service existed. Bloody Optus need to be hauled over the coals for this.

  • AenesidemusOZ 𝔊𝔯𝔞𝔫𝔡𝔞𝔩𝔣 (@AenesidemusOZ) reported

The issue with #Optus paying customers “compensation” for the data ‘hack’ (moronic screwup by Optus) is they will be able to wash their hands of any other needed response by saying “We paid!” This needs something more than just “Here’s some cash; now go away.”

  • drvyom Dr Vyom Sharma (@drvyom) reported

The ‘hackers’ asking for only 1 million dollars is the funniest bit for me. Probably more than Optus have ever spent on customer data security.

@nestor_au @Optus @RunnerSA18 You don't have to wait for your current contract to expire. You now have sufficient grounds to end your contract if you lodge a complaint with the telecommunications ombudsman to terminate your contract. I successfully did this with Vodafone a decade ago.

  • Happylittleveg Belleo (@Happylittleveg) reported

So @Optus how do previous customers find out if their details were included in the hack? Haven't received an email but was a customer for 10+ yrs until last year. #OptusHack

  • _k3tan k3tan (@_k3tan) reported

If the government didn't mandate KYC for telecommunications services, the Optus hack wouldn't have been as bad.

  • JB_AU Jonathan Brown (JB) (@JB_AU) reported

@fwmelb @davesayys Wait…if it’s on the Optus network that doesn’t mean your ID has been passed onto Optus again, right?

  • bjd Brendan Daly (@bjd) reported

If Optus is fined the fine should be paid to customers not the regulator. Same with other regulatory fines. The customer is the one hurt not the govt.

  • HAEScoach Kerry Beake (she/her) (@HAEScoach) reported

Given the stolen consumer data from @Optus, any company or business sending a text or email with links in the message is not just part of the problem but you will be now treated as #SPAM regardless. I received a random @Spotify text today, deleted and now marked as spam.

  • Tod_Fullston Tod Fullston (@Tod_Fullston) reported

@joshgnosis Pretty sure their recent price hikes were justified as optus was going to increase their security systems... irony, bad irony
