@lesstenny No he hasn't. He just blamed Labor for the Optus problem. I'm sure had this happened under the LNP government he would have stepped up and said "I take full responsibility" - not.

@abcnews Still yet to hear word from @optus directly. I knew their customer service was crap but Jesus Christ not even an email to say sorry for potential identity theft
-
Asher Wolf (@Asher_Wolf) reported
The process allegedly involved opening up the Optus customer identity database to other systems via what's known as an Application Programming Interface, with the assumption that the API would only be used by authorised company systems.

@GlenCodes @Optus OFFFT. Not even my area of knowledge, let alone expertise and I can see how reckless and stupid this was.

@mitchostheleo @Optus FACT IS OPTUS SERVICE IS BECOMING WORSE AND WORST SINCE LAST 2YEARS! EVERYTIME YOU COMPLAIN REGARDING SOME ISSUE THEY TELL SAME AGAIN AND AGAIN SINGLE STORY THEY ARE UPGRADING NETWORKS SINCE 1YEAR! OmG! I REALLY HOPE OPTIS CEO AT LEAST WILL WAKE UP NOW AND FIRE ALL THOSE LAZY!

@hardenuppete @Optus My point is that 24 hours after an alleged incident is nowhere near enough time for an organization to fully understand what happened. While it's probable that Optus has found the smoking gun it's not wise to jump to conclusions.

Jenny MacKinnon (@jennylmackinnon) reported
@Gruffy666 @Optus Right. We were very under-served customers at that time. It's not a minor issue by any means, and certainly not the customer's responsibility. Very annoyed they're spinning it like it's about whether bank accounts are safe when it has a whole host of other implications

While we are talking Optus, one of my first jobs was phone tech support with Microplex, the ISP that became Optus Internet (thread).

@SenSHenderson @AlboMP Ok Sarah, what tougher laws do you want? Also, you know with the speed of technology that as soon as a law is passed there’s a new way to hack, right? I’m an Optus customer and I appreciate just how hard cyber security is. What new laws exactly do you think will fix this?

@Jeremy_Kirk @arielbogle Ransomware typically encrypts the DB & locks the owner out until they fix the problem (or pay the ransom) This looks to be a breach, data stolen But then who now trusts Optus to actually tell the truth
