@anncherie49 @mariewalsh18 @Optus Actually I just figured it out. I was a Virgin Mobile customer, who were fully owned by Optus.

So I opened my work email, there's a message from postman (they make a tool for testing APIs) saying you can try their tool on various public APIs, strangely enough they didn't mention the Optus customer data one. Not a fan of postman, I'd rather write some code.

@mark_r_asser Our Optus email problems at work are so ridiculous I can barely understand them, let alone explain them. All I know is that this year, my boss has been a) on the phone to them b) on hold or c) waiting for a return call that never comes.

@Russputin2 The woman who saved Optus (but not from the interminable damage brought on from an avoidable data leak brought about by lax privacy laws coupled with govt mandated meta data retention...)

I signed up with #Optus fairly recently and was already feeling insecure abt the amount of personal data they wanted. I remember asking them, "why do you want all this, I've never been asked for these things before", including passport scans etc. Now all that is "out there..."

Hey @amaysimAU, you use the @optus network. Are your customers affected by the breach? We've heard nothing from you and there's no info on your website. #optusbreach @Jeremy_Kirk

@RonniSalt @Optus It should all be part of a breach response/management plan that gets that gets practiced and role-plays, much like a fire drill. Part of the problem is that there's an attitude of 'it won't happen to us'. A GDPR-like policy with huge fines would go a long way to helping that
