@noplaceforsheep I just got an email stating my data is breached. I haven’t been an Optus customer for 17 years. Can’t get my license done for days/weeks as we are remote/rural, it’s raining and we are cut off from the town that does that. When I can get there it will be a day off work.

@erfbeeass I spoke with @optus yesterday and despite not being a current customer (only 2 years) was told that they are required to retain records for 6 years. I knew of the meta data for 2 years but all else?

@Gergyl Not just Optus have weak ICT. Consulting to @Telstra and their eCom LOLO was poorly performing. Wanted server upgrade, but I blamed code. Team uncoop, so logged into Oracle to pull stats (guessed admin pswd: "changeoninstall"). Cache miniscule, no stmt reuse. Took a year to fix.

@9NewsAUS @cokeefe9 To all the comments Simply, optus, other telcos etc require 100point of ID when you sign up for a service. A passport/drivers license is part of that The info stolen can be used to sign up for credit cards, loans etc in your name. Not necessarily to gain access 2 other accounts

@mjrowland68 @BreakfastNews An email telling me that as a former Optus customer, some of my personal data has been breached. They may be foreseeing the future but I am a current Optus customer.

@7NewsAdelaide @PMalinauskasMP It’s a long drive for me and the waiting times to get a new drivers licence. I’m not impressed being a former Optus customer.

Certainly noticing that Optus network and mail server performance has gone down the toilet this week. Unresponsive to the max.

@Smallzy @Optus I’m pretty sure in other countries once you leave a company your data is destroyed- why is this not happening here? What a fundamental **** up

@davidtickle @TMRQld @Optus On your website now it says : Bring the following documentation with you to a transport and motoring customer service centre: your Optus data breach notice is this the letter from Optus to say our data has been stolen. Or do we have to wait until its used for crime
