Crisis communications is unpredictable & difficult. I usually don’t like to be critical. But as an impacted customer, #OptusHack is the worst example of communicating through a crisis I’ve ever seen. It’s amateur. How @Optus was so unprepared is astounding #publicrelations

@WideawakeBeets @Optus I still get monthly telstra bills. I've rang up 5 times to 'officially' cancel my account. Everytime they say 'yep thats done, you won't be hearing from us'. Then the next day I'll get an email saying Im overdue again.

@mjrowland68 And a side effect you might not have thought about: How many online services use the same email address you gave Optus as your login ID? How many of them have a "forgot password" link that texts a reset link to the phone number you gave Optus? Best change one or the other!

@ClareONeilMP @RonniSalt The card my wife used to pay her Optus account was used in an attempted fraud in rural Victoria yesterday. Seems to have been caught before any damage done. The retailer was alert enough to notice the card was suspicious. The perpetrators seem to have created a good fake card.

@Nick56412479 We had contact and support from so many Optus staff who made sure we stayed connected through everything which was crucial at the time. I always said I’d never leave them which puts me in a difficult position

@Optus you’ve sent a terrible apology in response to gifting a hacker people’s personal information and nothing else. What are you going to do for your customers? I’m going to move to @Telstra at this point because your response has been pathetic. #OptusHack #OptusDataBreach

So how do the @Optus hackers demand a ransom? What will they ‘return’? Data that they have already copied? The damage has been done and is irreversible.

@brettjmb @Jeremy_Kirk Doesn't really further the main issues beyond the 10,200 - what are we doing about the millions that we can't trust are really not out there? What is Optus doing to change their practices so these details aren't sent to your browser every time you look at the My Account page?
