@optus can you be quick and updates the customers who is among those unfortunate 10200 people whose details are already stolen and revealed? You really need to take action immediately. @AusFedPolice would you please do something and help us? #OptusHack

  • 0x42424242 Peleus (@0x42424242) reported

@civilized____ We’ll never know. Optus paid, 3rd party purchased with non disclosure arrangement, the pressure got too much, lots of possibilities.

  • AusEconPol Econocat (@AusEconPol) reported

@1petermartin Why on earth would Optus even have Medicare nos?! Basic ID (not a passport, it’s only a phone service FFS, not a bank account!) and payment details, and the former should not be stored!

  • YoSpecc GLM Spec (@YoSpecc) reported

@GritfoxPriv @Telstra Can’t believe I switched to Optus when the floods happened cause internet was down for 2 weeks, they have my info now, let’s just hope I’m one of the lucky ones who dosent get it released

@sunriseon7 Glad I'm not an optus fan, or ever been a customer lol.

  • arls68 Arls (@arls68) reported

@EthanBowmannn @Jeremy_Kirk Looks like they won’t have to pay anything. Damage to Optus and those whose data was released is done but they no longer want a ransom

  • Margie_Bloch Margie Bloch (@Margie_Bloch) reported

@susanfranciswr1 @Optus I'm not an Optus customer but will use my full vocabulary of swears on behalf of friends who are.

  • baradhili PICSI.co (@baradhili) reported

@joshgnosis yup... +1 Optus was telling people quickly.. -100 They plonked the API on the net with apparently no protection (or review?) "Security through obscurity" absolutely doesn't work

  • ScottsBotsAus The Bots (@ScottsBotsAus) reported

@6NewsAU @Leo_Puglisi6 Sounds to me like Optus paid up with a caveat that the hacker needed to: 1. Deny Optus ever paid. 2. Delete the data. 3. Apologise and say hacking is bad.

@Nick56412479 I’m disappointed to hear this. Optus helped me through a period of homelessness and I’ve always been so thankful for the service they’ve provided us. I almost signed up for a new phone the day before I heard of this breach.
