The text msg that @Optus are sending to affected customers is an exemplar of terrible comms. It refers to a “card number”, which is irrelevant for licences issued in Victoria. And is misleading in its use of the words “only the licence number”, as though no other PII was leaked.

Not to forget that the citizens of all states who shared their Passport IDs and/or medicare IDs with Optus are still exposed! So Optus SMSes today are meaningless. Funny that after 10 days of the incident, this is the best that Optus could do! #optusbreach #optus #optusHack
