@lavosaurus Also how do I change my name and d.o.b. Asking for an optus customer

@craff2008 @Optus Yep. You will be fine. I'm an Optus customer. I'm a customer of many companies that have my data, including the government. Basic vigilance is all one needs. Sleep should not be a victim of this breach.

@lyng62 Dear god no. I paid for an optus service while I was living in the UK just to keep my address. 25 years and counting.

@RealNickHodge @Dannyjboom Most private “blockchains” copy the data into a DB for speed and leave the “blockchain” as the audit record. So really blockchain replaces just that functionality that exists in an SQL do and doesn’t do it that well. But again, with Optus issue, a diff DB wouldn’t have changed it

I guess if Australia’s best network is Telstra, then Optus must be it’s most accessible

@_MollieGorman @Optus "Our services are safe" … while any other services you have that depend on identity information we just spilled like last nights bad wine, well, that's not our problem.

A few things about the Optus hack. The first is obviously that they have terrible, immature processes. Even if an engineer accidentally exposed an API to their customer DB, this should have been blocked or detected automatically.

@samthe_eagle @Optus One could argue that they breached our contracts. When you fail on such a basic level, how do you even defend the rigidity & legality of a contract? #OptusHack

@wallyscr Thanks Aaron. I had been considering getting a dongle or a SIM card or something with Optus just to keep the account (been with them nearly 30 years) but recent events have given me bad juju

@Jeremy_Kirk It’s an outrage. I haven’t been an Optus customer in over ten years, but now they’ve left me wide open to identity theft. I’m livid.
