@chdyctt @macsween_prue @Optus I’m not an Optus customer but Telstra, CBA, & a few other orgs have all contacted me this past week to let me know how they are protecting my data…

  • talkingcross Salt and Light (@talkingcross) reported

So I got that dreaded email from OPTUS. So should I go forward and cancel my passport? I’m already taking precautions and cancelling my debit cards and getting a new Medicare number.

  • Zoppy_McZop Zoppy McZop (Paul) 4x 💉 (@Zoppy_McZop) reported

@NiKKi_E13 @dancer_61 @Nick56412479 I haven’t been a customer of Optus for around 18 months and still they had my data stored and now hacked. Not happy

  • bensubban Subban (@bensubban) reported

@InsidersABC If you think the Optus hack is bad, could you imagine a hack on one of the real estate tenancy application platforms? Tenancy application platforms ask for far more personal information than Optus. Any way forward here?

  • McShayne2011 ً (@McShayne2011) reported

@InsidersABC The question needs to be where was this data stored. If #Optus outsourced to New Delhi, that is the issue as well.

  • bluemoonmonday SUMMER BLUE (@bluemoonmonday) reported

@TomMcIlroy I sat on hold for 40 minutes before giving up with Medicare re the optus hack..optus confirmed my Medicare details were taken..I'll be sending a bill to optus for time spent trying to secure the details they failed to..Bank, super, service NSW, Medicare

  • greentravellist ricky@greentravellist.com (@greentravellist) reported

@Optus @RunnerSA18 Then I can't contact you because of delays. As a former customer who has unsubscribed from all emails how exactly am I supposed to find out if my data (you kept for years) has been breached/stolen.

  • Fishman_Dan Daniel Cohen (@Fishman_Dan) reported

@InsidersABC @GrogsGamut First change would be to stop calling it a hack. It wasn't, they opened a door to anyone who wanted to come in and access live customer data. Secondly, Optus Executives getting sacked would be a good place to start.

  • ssharwood Simon Sharwood (@ssharwood) reported

@manpageman @Optus Which is why I always thought "Data is the new oil" was a terrible metaphor. Marketers used it to try to say "data powers everything" while oddly forgetting about CO2 and myriad other oil-related downsides

  • rivkhali5 fine&mental (@rivkhali5) reported

@JoshButler Have you seen the garbage that the @Optus app is spewing out to customers trying to get answers (if you manage to bypass the 'systems error' bug and log in)?
