This Optus hack got anyone else panicking about everywhere else you'd ever provided drivers licence or passport details to check into a hotel or register for a service?

  • Leighlo Leigh :) Stark (@Leighlo) reported

@Jeremy_Kirk @Tegan_Writes That number seems much higher than the 9.8 maximum Optus said would be the worst case. Which if true makes you wonder if the 9.8 was just current customers, given the data went back to 2017...

@recneps51 @Optus @NSW_FairTrading Don’t worry I have tried to cancel a direct debit and they simply refuse. It’s like I have to cancel my credit card to get away from them & then there’s no guarantee! It’s basically “Unconscionable conduct”. For those with Optus, I am with TPG, have had no real issues. Cheap, $49.99 a month, covers all internet access.

@adamjonwilliams My question is how someone can export 11 million records without any alerts/alarms going off. Checked out the sample data and has literally every possible detail about each Optus customer.

  • omegaspur Thomas (@omegaspur) reported

@Optus - letter; - "Dear Customer," You have my details, use my name? - "If you believe your account has been compromised, you can contact us via My Optus app" You should be advising me if my details have been compromised, I shouldn't have to investigate. #OptusDataBreach #Optus

@bugwannostra @Optus and I'm yet to learn if my info is at risk... or even if they are investigating .... @Optus what is your comms team doing? I know your cyber team is flat out - but can you help?

  • BigunitGrant Grant D (@BigunitGrant) reported

@jshsmth8 @Optus An “inconvenience” as a customer is when you lose service for a short period, or you debit my account twice in error. Nothing that causes permanent damage. This is beyond that. Our information is now with God only knows who & will be used for God only knows what! #optusfail
