If you have ever had some parts of your identity and banking details stolen ( I have ) welcome to an endless period of terrible things happening to you for years and years. Not to spook fellow Optus customers but please be very vigilant and cautious. Double check everything.

@TheTodayShow I complained to Optus not only because of the spams, their **** service. I WAS NOT called at all about this breach!!!! I had to call them only to find I have been comprised!!!!! I told them I’m not paying my bill!!! I’M DISGUSTED! OPTUS SUCK!!!

  • TheProselytiser Proselytiser (@TheProselytiser) reported

Dear @Optus : Pay the damn ransom!! Then let the police track them down. But for heaven's sake don't expose any more customers to a lifetime of having to defend themselves against fraud accusations. #optusfail #OptusDataBreach

Get the feeling Optus will be looking for a new CEO before too long. Given the gravity of the issue & how it directly impacts each customer, this could even be the end of the company in AUS.

@damedesfIeurs Oh my god, that’s awful. I can’t believe Optus isn’t one, updating us like HOURLY bc this is absolutely important. Two, how they let millions of customers information just left out in the open like that?? Apparently this gives everyone a good reason to leave our contracts bc +

@ClareONeilMP I'm hearing a few worrying stories on Facebook from people who have contacted their bank & having problems already. Would it be a good idea to meet up with banks & sort out a plan to deal with this? Luckily I've never been with Optus, but many are now very very worried.

@ashulz My wife was affected. She was never an Optus customer. She had been a customer of Virgin (or Vodafone, can't remember) before it was taken over by Optus Optus still had her info from how ever many years ago. That's not because of recent legislation. 1/

Being an affected #OptusDataBreach pissed off customer just got worse. @Optus is offering @Equifax subscription to monitor our data. Equifax had a data breach of 150million customers. #confidence

  • Dan_Nahum Dan Nahum (@Dan_Nahum) reported

Hi @Optus – I’m a Virgin phone customer (i.e. an Optus one), so I assume you’ve spilled my data, or don’t know whether you have or not. What do I need to do?

@mjrowland68 Funny how not 1 media organisation has provided the context that Optus is owned by an authoritarian gov. An essential service. They can own it and f+ck it, but we can't. ABC?
