This #Optus fail really does highlight the shocking standards of customer service in the Telco industry as a whole. It's difficult to imagine Vodafone & Telstra handling the same situation any better. The big 3 are all prolific in treating their customers like ****.

We also should ask why Optus needed to acquire *and* retain identity data of this nature in the first place. To get a SIM card? Sure, but then why the long term retention of that data once identity has been established? Was it worth the problem we now have?

@DeanRosario @Optus Does that actually solve the issue? If it does then absolutely.

@Optus hey Optus I am unable to get through your call center to move service. Therefore I have decided to deactivate the service. Agents put us on hold randomly and disconnect. This is frustrating

@Optus so if you are moving house today it’s all the cyber attacks fault and you have to go in store. Stop using this as an excuse and help your customers rather than hiding behind a script

@StephenJonesMP There is absolutely no reason for Optus to retain copies of documents etc especially once a customer has left. I am extremely angry that Optus has put me at risk!!

@drcarrot98 @Optus @Telstra I'm in the same boat. They all stink. I took Vodafone to the ombudsman a decade ago and I also left Telstra nearly 20 years ago for their appalling customer service. And the way that Optus has behaved after the fact is utterly disgraceful & unforgivable.

@PTurnour @TheRealEGS But ID Care will not actively help an Optus customer until some sort of identity theft has occured They are merely offering advice
