@mr_al @vanOnselenP Yep. There'll be a bunch of different threat actors pissed off with whoever rumbled this open doorway to the Optus customer base. Have not seen anyone specify how long this vulnerability existed, but it is safe to presume it would be measured in the months rather than days.

  • BLShiv 💧Shiv 😷 (@BLShiv) reported

@ClareONeilMP Hi @ClareONeilMP will Optus CEO receive punitive penalties for lying about the sophistication of the attack? When her statement is clearly designed to play down Optus negligence?

  • GavinCoote Gavin Coote (@GavinCoote) reported

New licenses will be issued for free to people in NSW and QLD affected by the Optus breach. In NSW, the $29 replacement charge will still apply, but Optus will then issue reimbursement advice

  • GistPolitix Del Sinistra (@GistPolitix) reported

@CaraMia200 Banks don't operate that way. Same as banks won't email you with a link in the email to login to your account. If you do happen to come across a bank that genuinely does these things, drop them like a hot potato. They're cowboys. This is outside of any Optus factors.

  • sagovau SA Government (@sagovau) reported

@C_J_Hamp @DFIT_SA Optus customers who have already paid a fee for a replacement licence can apply in person at their Service SA for a refund.

  • _AnthonyWA 𝔸𝕟𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕟𝕪™️ (@_AnthonyWA) reported

There was an unexpected development in the Optus data breach saga today, when the online account which claimed to be behind the breach offered up an apology and walked back threats of releasing more customer data or holding Optus to ransom. Love Gladys

@VictorDominello ID support have been amazing. Siegfred could not have been more helpful. After my call I received a detailed email as to what I should do to protect my identity. Optus have been woeful & refuse to reimburse me for my costs. #optus

@BridgeMuir I very much doubt that we will ever see the end of this. That data is worth Billions for many reasons, it’s why Optus collected it. Imagine apart from the personal details, now in the hands of Hackers but imaging the IP, they know the Optus customer base. Usage stats, demographics
