We can do better than using metaphors for data like "oil and sand." I offer a few thoughts and touch on the Optus breach of 10 million customer records. Even good old Sir Francis Bacon gets a mention!

So it turns out that @Optus are a totally crap company. Who knew (apart from anyone who's dealt with them)!!!

  • celebrate246 celebrate246 (@celebrate246) reported

@9NewsAUS @Optus Why should customers have to contact optus and wait hours. Optus should be going out of their way to help customers that are affected.

  • sandyg_co Bestbuds 😷🇺🇦 (@sandyg_co) reported

@Optus @RunnerSA18 Optus now trying to save a buck by finding ways to down play the fact that over 10 million people had their ID’s breached but hey don’t worry they only got half of the ID document. What a business model you have. No care for customers just the mighty dollar.

  • TerryThetitter Terry (@TerryThetitter) reported

@karenandrewsmp It’s quite simple. Mandatory service level agreements. For every piece of PI leaked at financial penalty applies. Name $20, addresses $20 etc. 10,0000,000 people details leaked 6-7 pieces of PI x $20 would have Optus up for around $1.4 billion.

  • John_V_Young John Young (@John_V_Young) reported

@MarkTregonning We have not been with Optus ever as a direct customer but were with Virgin Mobile to May 2009. Similarly received SMS stating Licence number has been breached. How long do they really need to hold data for? #OptusDataBreach

  • atcbiz Mark Edwards 💉x4 (@atcbiz) reported

@BamTennie @Optus Seriously you should contact customer service and tell them this cost you money and you want a credit on your bill.

  • Wesley33691142 @Bloody old gamer (@Wesley33691142) reported

Optus calling their problem a cyberattack leaves the impression that they are the victim. Crap, leaving the back door open forever then complaing about being robbed is Neglegence. So if you use a company that will not accept responsibility is only your fault. Leave now .
