@redruby17 @joshgnosis My conclusion is my info is included in what’s been stolen but the source documents may be different for each customer depending on what they gave Optus as identifying docs when they opened their account.

  • Phoenix_DownXIV Phoenix (@Phoenix_DownXIV) reported

big **** you to optus btw as someone whos been affected

  • BLShiv 💧Shiv 😷 (@BLShiv) reported

@smh @TimBiggs Summary: basically nothing. The Govt and all lending agencies etc have to sharpen their systems ID checks and user data processes. Otherwise worst case scenario data breaches like Optus can be used to abuse your ID for financial gain.

  • stilgherrian Stilgherrian (@stilgherrian) reported

@GeoffSpinmonkey @GavinWakeupint1 They may have to change that. Service NSW is already working with Optus, they say.

  • mowse2 Mowse2 (@mowse2) reported

As bad as the Optus breach is... What is more worrying is how everyone else is also gathering our data. You want to use x app -> mandatory KYC. These businesses have a lower security budget than Optus. It won't even make the news if they get hacked. That's scary.

  • clarkjourno Philippa Clark (@clarkjourno) reported

I haven’t seen it reported anywhere, but do we know whether the Optus hack also affects other providers that use the Optus network (like Amaysim)?

  • kristenontour kristen’s kitchen (@kristenontour) reported

@Craget @Optus Optus confirmed it on their help page! I got the same email

  • jamiemgalea Jamie Galea (@jamiemgalea) reported

How many peeps that follow me are Voda customers? If so, how would you rate their mobile service? Thinking of swapping to them because of the Optus debacle.

  • pigironman1 pig iron man (@pigironman1) reported

@samanthamaiden Optus is valued at between $8-12 billion. The hackers were only asking for $1 million? This whole saga is turning into a comedy of errors...

  • throau Jethro Rose (@throau) reported

@Veeteejay1 @danilic Given even dealing with Optus accounts over billing inquiries is so freaking difficult as a business customer I’m not surprised
