@SenPaterson @Birmo Why wasn't the Telecommunications Act changed over the last decade to remove the need for OPTUS to keep all that information for people who no longer had accounts with them. Snivelling ****.

@Optus can you please check your DM.I cannot believe one of your representatives put us on hold and then cancelled our internet, fetch tv+sport and phone! We have been passed around and around for the past 3hrs to be told we will never be able to have the fetch tv reinstated?

Got email from Optus saying "We recently communicated to you that your personal information has been exposed during the cyberattack on Optus." and that my drivers license was in the leak. Only problem is that this is the first email I have received from them. Nice work @Optus

Maybe #Optus should offer all data breach victims a free phone* of their choice as part of a compensation program. *Network unlocked of course.

@abcnews Optus is still the biggest criminal in this story. A telecommunications company with incredibly poor security practices and a very blasé attitude to the safety of their users personal details.

@FreeRangeEggs Your bank knows if you’re an Optus customer and they know if you’re a fraud target. But there are impediments to them helping you if Optus can’t share data.

Loosening privacy laws to help deal with the fallout of a massive telco hack is very much on brand for Australian legislative "cyber security" If only Optus was mandated to retain more sensitive info, then it'd be much easier to work out who was hacked
